Somewhere I Belong – Lara & Samus
Samus treks through the jungle in the strange planet, using her visor to scan for Chozo technology. She had sworn that there was the familiar blip on her ship's radar to indicate that there are Chozo ruins here. That small sign of the bird race so far from their home worlds of Tallon IV and Zebes was enough to make her land her ship in a small clearing in the middle of lush rain forests, feeling a familiar swell of longing well up in her heart. Home.
The thought makes her stride a little faster through the dense trees until something appears in her visor, proving that she had not been imagining things. She continues to trudge through the mud until through the trees she sees an all too familiar sight. Her heart stops for just a moment, before she approaches the wall of the ruined temple, reaching out to touch the stone wall, reading the inscription in the familiar alien language.
As we have done for several hundred years, we Chozo have built a sanctuary, away from the machines we have always been so dependent of. Perhaps here, in this place where animals and plants reign, we may find the peace we so desire by connecting ourselves to this green planet.
No matter how many times she had been in these ruins, it never failed to stir powerful emotions within her, though she would never admit it to anyone. Spending time in these ruins brought her back home, just for a moment, even though she knew home was only a far fetched ideal that could no longer be attained. Her covered fingertips trace the lettering for a moment before she glances around herself, seeing a place to attach her grappling beam to, dropping onto a platform before climbing over the temple walls by using some of the vegetation which had grown over the walls. As always, nature was reclaiming this place for itself.
Once over the wall, she scans the surrounding area with her thermal and x-ray scanners, making certain there is no hostile life to be aware of before she continues to explore the ruins further.
