My feelings on Entradak

I am brand new to this particular fandom (literally started binging around midnight last night and finished earlier this evening because I didn’t want to do homework) and I have found myself falling in love with one princess in particular:

That’s right! The machinist princess with killer hair! I love her quirkiness and how everything just seems to roll off her. Nobody can kill her mood and she is not ashamed to be who she is. She follows her passions and sees every mistake as a chance to try again. As she says, “Imperfections are beautiful, at least to [her].”

I will admit, I was PISSED when the Princesses left her behind, thinking they’d gotten rid of Entrapta, but luckily she survived. I also loved that even in the clutches of the enemy, she still remained her bubbly self. More than that, her work was celebrated, her theories made valid, and people were actually listening to her.

And then, she went into Hordak’s lab. I was SO scared when she did, worried that Hordak would hurt her for trespassing. However, he recognized her hard work and decided to keep her around, finding her a help and a valuable asset. And let’s face it, he liked her probably early on. I mean, come on! She was sitting on the arm of his THRONE and chatting his ear off like they were best friends

Hordak even sent Catra to the Crimson Wastes at Entrapta’s behest. Yes, arguments could be made that he figured Catra would die out there, but he still gave in to her request. This all came to a head when Entrapta learned of his genetic defaults. 

She didn’t judge him on his faults and went right into helping him, building him his exoskeleton and insisting he wasn’t a failure just because he was different, siting her own feelings of being a failure. Hordak of course dismisses these claims of being a failure, with some prompting from Imp, and leads to this beautiful scene

While she simply calls him a friend in this moment, her own feelings are shown in the exosuit. I mean, come on, the stone in his collar reads LUVD!

Some wonder if he is aware of what this stone says, and personally, I think he does. When Catra (the cat-faced %^&* who ruined this preciousness!!) lied to him about Entrapta’s loyalty, his hand goes to the stone as if to caress it.

I think I speak for the entire fandom when I say that Hordak better find out about Catra’s betrayal and Entrapta’s banishment. He better go and get her from Beast Island so those two can live happily ever after!

I know who you are you are eeeeeeevil. But you’re correct. Surely this deserves a tip right? I’m pandering to the straights!! This will be a short one I think though

Entrapta slept soundly on the laboratory sofa as the scanners and various other machines did their work in assembling multiple mechanisms they would need for the next phase of experiments and looking over the samples the multitudes of away teams had brought back from the dig sites. The whole suite was bubbling away with experiments and readouts and yet she was napping even over the choirs of boops and beeps and bubbling concoctions.

When Hordak walked into the room, he was almost pleasantly surprised at the state of the room, looking around to find his lab-assistant. 

The small darling of a devil child hopped off of his broad shoulder and leapt onto Entrapta’s chest on the sofa, waving its arms. It captured Hordak’s attention. 

“Entrapta...” He demanded, and she rolled over on the sofa.

“The readout scans and the dissemination results aren’t in yet... Let me sleep,” she asked in a grouchy and sleepy voice, her hair pulling the blanket over her shoulder and back after she’d rolled. Her welding mask was still over her face acting like a sleeping mask under the heavy and clinical lights. 

Hordak moved over to the countertop and set down the small try he had brought it, taking off one cup of coffee for his assistant and moving over to sit on the foot-end of her sofa. “Entrapta... Wake up,” he ordered her, maintaining his usual bravado of voice yet curving it with a hint of compassion he’d adopted since she had landed in his lap.

She grumbled back at him, until the small devil child came to her back and started to push against her. “Sleepy...” She grumbled again. 

Hordak did not relent. “Wake up Entrapta. I brought you a coffee... And even a small cupcake... Force Captain Scorpia told me you were quite fond of small foods...”

Entrapta shot up in an instant and leaned over her own knees. Her tendrils of flippant and personal hair shot out and took the coffee and small cupcake from the esteemed leader’s hands. While that was happening, Entrapta in her fabulous comfort with Hordak, leaned in closer and planted a faint kiss on his textured cheek, falling back against the sofa and munching on the tiny cupcake.

“Thank you... The results should be done in a few more moments,” she reported and sipped and ate. 

“Excellent. Thank you, Entrapta.”

I'm not really gonna ship Hordak and Entrapta. While Entrapta is an adult, and probably the oldest of the main princesses, Hordak is still at least 20 years older than her so that's a bit :/. He's also the leader of the villains, and I'm fairly sure he'll throw her away when she's served her purpose. I also feel if Entrapta cares so little for friendship, she's really not going to be motivated by romance.

I like to joke about him adopting her because that's always funny, but it's fairly obviously not that sort of relationship either.

He's finally found someone he considers close to his level. Someone capable of not just understanding, but helping him achieve his goals. And someone who, let's be honest, will not stop for any sentimental reasons.

Shadow Weaver was basically pure emotion. Catra is all ambition.

Entrapta is a genius. A genius with no off switch.

I love Entrapta. But she's been shown to care most about the science. There was a point where she cared about her new friends as well but I think, after being left behind, she's probably decided to just follow the science. Science can't disappoint her - "there's always data"

So she's the perfect lab partner for Hordak. She's excited to be working with someone who lets her go all out and encourages her, and he's happy to have someone who he can talk to almost as an equal.

Their relationship is very interesting, and they may end up bonding with each other more than with any other character. So I totally understand why people want to ship them romantically. It's an interesting dynamic with lots of angst potential.

Do I think their bond will end with genuine friendship or even romance? Absolutely not. It doesn't make sense to me. But I will enjoy other people's theories and content.
