Hey y'all wanna read this essay I wrote after accidentally taking quadruple the dose of my flu cough syrup? I have no clue what I was on about it but it sure as hell was something.
Barriers to entry pertain to obstacles that prohibit potential competitors from entering a market. These hurdles could be in the form of exorbitant startup costs, regulatory requirements, or economies of scale. Out of these, artificial barriers to entry stand out as unique in that they have no economic logic, or social choice or necessity. Rather, they are manmade or maintained by incumbents, institutions or governments and continue to exist for the sake of vested interests or to reinforce market power. This paper investigates the origin, mechanism and consequences of artificial entry barriers and also demonstrates the effects on competition and innovation.
Artificial barriers have no clear rationale in terms of economic efficiency and/or consumer welfare—opaque licensing hurdles, overly stringent zoning regulations or preferential treatment of incumbent players can all be considered examples. Their introduction is not a by-product of market forces, but is demanded or imposed through deliberate acts.
Entry barriers decided from random are a difficult challenge for doing fair competition, and conduit fundamental innovation of economic benefits to the economy and society at any given time. On the positive side, they may offer improvements to existing players, but they generally do not benefit society overall and can be seen as a risk. It is a result of transportation policy immaturity in civil society and a white paper developed by the World Economic Forum on seeking out harmonization effects. In order to raise even the playing field, there needs to be collaboration between policymakers, regulators, companies, and civil society to create a more inclusive and competitive economy. We will deepen the design of public procurement audit mechanism, promote supervision and implementation of grounded work, improve legislation and departmental regulations, and safeguard the economy from adopting arbitrary measures, reforming entrants
Okay so what the hell was I on about. Why did I introduce the World Economic Forum in the conclusion? What white paper? Why do I have such inconsistent use of the Oxford comma? How did I elaborate on nothing? Did I even iterate my thesis statement much less restate it?
One of y'all, get high as shit and tell me what the hell I was on about.

Roses
Women resemble roses.
Women resemble roses in the way that society acts as the florists that take away their thorns. A woman's opinions and strengths are treated lightly, from the way some women are still forced to stay home and do chores instead of go to school, to the way that a woman wanting to do a man's job is thought to be weak and foolish. While this has evolved through the ages, allowing women to learn, to vote, or to go into politics, some still think men should do better.
Women resemble roses in the way that society becomes the customers, choosing only based on physical appearance, on color, on smell. Roses may not have personalities, but women do. Women are told that they should look like this or that, wear this or that, act like this or that. Florists utilize paint to change a rose's color, the same way that society allows us to think that women should be like the model's on billboards and magazines. True beauty and acceptance of one's form is advertised at present, but that doesn't stop society from making other's insecure.
Women resemble roses in the way that some people always treat roses as symbols of lust and love. Society treats women as bikini-clad objects that are used to sell beer and clothes and body spray to men. They think women who work as entertainers do not know better, but the industry would not have started if it wasn't for man's objectification.
It may not be quite obvious, but there are still signs that women are not treated equally. Society blames rape victims, because those girls were entitled to wear what they wanted to, yet people think they were asking for it. Society looks down on a woman wearing only shorts and a tank top in hot weather, yet is fine with a man in the same clothes.
I promote feminism because I am afraid to walk alone at night, because girls with opinions are considered loud-mouthed, because we cannot sell items without being half-naked and wearing make-up. I promote feminism because friend-zoned boys think that a woman has not chosen wisely when she did and is entitled to her own decisions. I promote feminism because there are people that see a young girl with a little child and can think that the girl is a slut and got pregnant at an early age. I promote feminism because a woman's job can still pay lower than a man's.
I promote feminism. Feminism does not ask for women to be treated as superiors, but to be treated truly like equals. Women and roses are different in a number of ways- one of them being that women are humans. The question is, do all people treat women equally so?
(About: This was the very first essay I wrote for class, which was used to determine if I needed additional help in regard to English proficiency. This was also the messiest.)
Influence of filipino 'Teleseryes'
Teleseryes are drama shows that are shown on TV by broadcasting stations like ABS-CBN & GMA. As far as one is concerned, teleseryes are not a threat to the general public, but in some TV shows that depict fantasy themed dramas like Galema in ABS-CBN, it depicts a woman who is the child of a mutant like creature and throughout her life, she has been through heart aches and miracles of love. It may seem like a harmless plot, but isn't it a bit far fetched? Most series are often themed with romance and broken relationships, it goes by the lines of 'Once, there was this abandoned girl...then she finds true love...then her twins tries to steal her man....the evil twin loses", etc. Teleseryes are fun to watch in general but what do they influence to children? Are children supposed to believe that they would achieve a happily ever after and live peacefully? An example to point out is the role of politicians in media and vice-versa Most actors and actresses in are not great performers, may be good or great but not astounding.
it is not bad to idolize stars, but teleseryes do not capture the essence of reality. Even in Korean or Japanese Dramas, children are not supposed to think about true love at a young age, they should be studying to face the real world, and it's not all glitz and glamour as teleseryes present to the audience. Most would not agree since teleseryes have already been part of out culture, a past time if one may see it. What is the story supposed to convey to the viewer? Yes, it is a product of one's creative imagination, but what is it trying to impart on us? Another example would be Honesto in ABS-CBN, it does a good job of showing children that they should not lie and always be honest but the main plot of the series is very complicated. Why drag a child into adult matters? Why not real life dramas similar to the ones in GMANEWSTV.
Teleseryes do not only fuel our imaginations, but also gives us joy as a pastime. Normal series that do not depict Monsters or fictional characters are fine as they convey a sense of realism to viewers. But half human-half snake or half human-half bird creatures are too far fetched. Story lines in teleseryes are often reused and recycled that an eccentric plot would not appeal to us as easily as the ones we are used to. It is okay for children to like fantasy, they have a wider array of imagination but the child's actions can lead to unnecessary accidents. The parents should regulate the shows that the children watch and let them be informed of the difference between Fact& Fiction; Reality & Drama.
(A/N: This is based on opinion and is not meant to harm anyone or anything. This is schoolwork done in the classroom, none of the things stated in the essay do not mean any harm)

Entry Essay: CYBERCRIME
Melissa just turned 16, and for her birthday present, her parents finally gave her a personal credit card. Melissa immediately learned the in-and-outs of credit usage, and she was glad to find out that she could check her expenses using an application on her mobile phone. She eagerly registered her card and began using her card. A few weeks later, Melissa's phone prompted her to update the software for some adjustments to the program, but since updating is such a hassle, Melissa ignored the urgent notice. The next day, Melissa noticed a notification icon on the application she used to track her credit card expenses. She was puzzled by the message which read "You have maxed out your credit limit!" Melissa was confused by this, but thought that perhaps the application was malfunctioning. She was wrong. A hacker was able to infiltrate her phone using a glitch that could have been fixed by the update. This glitch allowed the hacker to access her credit information, and thus, was able to use Melissa's card!q All of this is unknown to poor Melissa, who would have a hard time explaining the explosive credit bill to her furious parents. Melissa's story is one that is fictional, but it is a template or reflection of the lives of so many people around the world. A study according to Symantec showed a drastic increase in cybercrime in the past few years, and this devastating trend has yet to decline. Even, we, the people of the Philippines are being threatened by cybercrime. As a defensive measure, the Philippine Government has created several laws that aim to protect the rights of this country's citizens, but is this method effective? Has the causes and effects of cybercrime been identified and made known to the people? Do the people know what they should do?
There are several reasons why people commit crimes. Some do it for their family, some do it for themselves, while some do it for spite. Why do cybercriminals commit cybercrimes? One of the many reasons was shown in Melissa's story where cybercriminals gain sensitive information that could lead to monetary gain. Information such as social security numbers, bank account information,, profitable blackmail material, and the like would be at the fingertips of a skilled hacker. Since the alternative exists, why not try it out? This ties into another reason as to why cybercriminals "do what they do." A vast majority of people are truly careless about their digital information. There are those who are so careless one could think these people are taunting those with capabilities to take advantage of precious data. It is sometimes true to say that being a victim of cybercrime is a careless user's own fault why he is suffering from the consequences of cybercrime.
Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Every crime has an equal and just punishment, or does it? The Philippine government has created laws such as the RA 10175, also known as the Anti-cybercrime Bill, to combat the rising threat of cybercriminals. An ideal outcome would be the protection of the "online" rights of the citizens, and the punishment of cybercriminals who have committed cybercrimes. Unfortunately, the situation in the Philippines is far from ideal. There has been a case where a group of three Filipinos committed one of the most heinous cybercrimes ever recorded. This incident was called the "I Love You" virus spread. The three individuals caused massive worldwide chaos. Thankfully, the three criminals were apprehended, but sadly they did not get punishment because the Philippines' laws did not punish the type of crime they committed. The three were set free, allowed to commit more crimes in th future. In response, the Philippine Government created the "Anti-cybercrime Bill" to protect the rights of the citizens. Unfortunately, not all the rights of the people were protected by this new bill. The people clamored how thee bill was trying to inhibit the people's freedom of speech. This shows how the new bill is far from perfect, and needs to be revised. I believe however, that some protection is better than none, no matter how imperfect a defense it may be.
From what was mentioned, one can surmise how dangerous cybercrime is, how the people are at times the cause of their own misfortune, and how the Philippine government is trying to save its citizens from the threat of cybercrime. Hopefully this can make one realize how one can strive to be protected, as well as help the community to correct the errors. It is very often to see a person criticizing how the government runs a country, but if one would like to have a change, the change would have to start small. The change would have to start with oneself.
Writing Class Entry Essay (September 16, 2013)
The Philippine Development Authority Fund (PDAF), commonly known as the Pork Barrel, has been the hottest topic all over the country for the past two months. Whether it is through local tongues or through the power of the mainstream media, it is quite difficult to not hear this issue. As intriguing as it may sound, PDAF is more than what meets the eye, or at least bigger than what most of the population had in mind. Being more redundant by the second, there is something in PDAF that is indeed worthy of all the attention.
Whenever we purchase any product, or whenever we avail services, there is a small amount that is added to our fee. For the professionals, a deduction is made each time they receive their monthly pay. These little cuts are what we call the taxes. Through these taxes, highways, infrastructures, healthcares, scholarships, and other projects of the government are made possible. It sounds just at this point, does it not? There is nothing wrong with investing a little from your wallet for your future's stability, right? But what if these investments of yours are not put into what you're availing, but rather go directly into the pockets of others? Would it still be the same?
Every month, the alleged deductions are collected by the local authorities and are stored into a "safe" place. Whenever these officials come up with a form of public service, they will use these funds that were kept safe for a while. Now this is what we call the proper use of taxes. On the other hand, the funds that were kept safe is what we call as the PDAF or the Pork Barrel. Technically, these were once called taxes. Since the money that we pay are put into a special place for the country's development by the officials, they decided to call it by a different name. Thus, the birth of the term PDAF. In other words, a fund of the Philippine authorities for the supposedly development of the country.
With that being said, the so called funds are not being used properly. the supposedly infrastructures, railroads, highways, and establishments were replaced by private vehicles and lands. The worse part is that these ownership are not of the people, but of the authorities instead. The investments, the hard earned investments that should secure our living experience, has secured nothing but the greediness of the "politicians". Because of such, the citizens grew angry, and demanded that the "pork" should be taken away.
Pork Barrel originally came from a tradition of the early Filipinos of storing pork into a barrel for future consumption. But now, it seems that Pork Barrel refers to a barrel full of pigs - a system full of corruption. Going back to the main topic, if the pork was to be abolished, where would the officials get their funds? Thinking about it, the government would only be more corrupt if they cannot find any source for their projects.
Now, I leave you with one question: Is there really more to the pork than what meets the eye? Just a thought to ponder about...
