In retrospect I realise that Enzo was only looking at Blaine "like that" in the church because his little scheming vive-la-révolution brain saw an opportunity to use Blaine's ambition to get rid of Father Love and his followers without Fillmore-Graves troops having to dirty their hands.

(And if we think further into the future... an opportunity to create more discord between zombie and non-zombie humans by encouraging Blaine’s and Angus’ attempt to break through the borders and cause tension.)

Yet I still think the show would have greatly benefited and not lost anything if it had a side storyline of Enzo briefly dipping into radical zombie religion and having a crush on the choir “boy” with the angelic voice

Hell, him faking all that would have added some spice to the eventual betrayal.
