Fem Gyuheon and internalized misogyny (my interpretation)
if the bullies weren’t genderbent, I think they would have definitely acknowledged that Gyuheon was a girl and they would make that known to Gyuheon. In this route, I think that Gyuheon would see being girly or even being seen as just a girl would make her seem weaker, hence why she would be very masculine and be taking on masculine roles.
She would see other normal or feminine girls (like Daeun) as needing her protection, whether they do or don’t, because they would seem weaker in her head because they don’t have masculine traits or as much as she does. She wouldn’t want to be seen as girly because she would associate being girly or feminine with weakness, hence her being a butch; she wouldn’t identify with those feminine things.
With my butch Gyuheon design, everything is the same aside from her having breasts and her eyelashes. You could even mistake her for a man. This was intentional on my part since I was going along with this idea I had for her. Her almost seeming like a boy would assure her that she isn’t automatically seen as weak because she’s so masculine and boyish, rather than girly or feminine.
On another route, if the bullies were genderbent, I wouldn’t make much change about them either. This time, gyuheons focus would still be on masculinity, but I think she would also see other masculine girls as a threat or be weary of them. They would remind her of the bullies, and she would need to try to be more masculine than them in order to sort of assert herself as the stronger person. I think she would do this subconsciously as well, going with her subconscious need for control and validation that she is strong and not weak, and her need to be SEEN as strong or someone that can’t easily be messed with.
Hope this makes sense
(Extra note: He/him butch Gyuheon would be so peak, I’m a truther)(extra extra note I love you butch Gyuheon my babygirl 🧡)
