here’s my excuse to rant. the 1-hit-point weasel gets plot armour for jokes, but veth’s baby son, one of her main anchors to the plot and the person she’s been trying to protect this whole campaign, dies graphically with almost no possible prevention from the players. matt had the characters trapped from all angles, sent them to the fire plane and didn’t make them roll for stealth to avoid a monster (a monster which eluded a nat 20 investigation roll) just because veth and jester were talking to each other?

half the people at the table are parents with young children and their faces watching that were devastating. sam likes to play as a parent because of his children. somebody also pointed out that on his between the sheets, he said the things in media that get him worst are when things happen to kids :(

I found the quote from talks machina because this broke my heart a little: “it was pretty rotten, my heart was beating really fast, I certainly didn’t want to uh, to have my son die, live on the stream. but also I don’t know what veth would have done, you know, that’s the end. it’s over. It’s almost worse than when your own character (dies), because this is something that would also kill Veth... I texted matt later that night, like ‘thats it, Veth’s out, I’m tapping out, next game just plan on me not being there, essentially’”

that’s what made me realise wow.. this isn’t fun. I think it could’ve been handled more sensitively and that’s the whole take.
