Deadly Autographs

In their eyes, Los Pepes were painting a masterpiece in sicario blood and, like any artist they liked to sign their work. Every time they killed someone linked to Pablo, they would leave a cardboard sign hanging from their neck with messages that would say, "For working with the narco terrorist and baby killer Pablo Escobar. For Colombia. Los Pepes."

Dead Sicarios

Finding a dead sicario displayed in public was the in-thing in ‘92 and '93. The paramilitary group Los Pepes, or People Persecuted by Pablo Escobar, were killing everyone that ever had anything to do with Escobar, leaving them out to be found. Velasco is based on one of Pablo's many sicarios, a term from ancient Rome that means dagger wielder. One by one Pablo's dagger wielders began to fall.
