London and Oxford
Not to do things out of order, but I just realized that I never posted about London and Oxford!!!
Well it was a very nice weekend.
Took the MegaBus there. Haha, it's a 9 hour journey but costs on 20£
So for like 4hours, we drive to the customs point, swiftly through France. Long line at UK, but they were real nice. Then back onto the bus. Then an hour drive to the ferry port. The bus goes into the ferry and we get off the bus and go into the actual part of the ferry. I did a little souvenir shop browsing. Washed my face and freshened up using the duty free product testers :) Bought an expensive strawberry Ribena. Delicious. And much needed as I was very parched -_- 1 hour and 45 minutes and we go back into the bus at Dover. And voila, Victoria Coach Station at 7am (of course I thought the bus was an hour late because I forgot about the time difference).
I only went to the Tower of London, Portobello market, The London Eye, Southbank Christmas market, Picadilly Circus, Leicester Square, Covent Garden, and Trafalgar Square
My friend and I climbed onto one of the lions at Trafalgar...so scary and amazing lol
Oxford is absolutely glorious and beautiful. There is so much architectural awesomeness because it was founded in 1066 or something...so there's a mélange of styles. I went to Ashmolean Museum, my friends' respective colleges, the shopping streets, covered market (yum for the cookies and meat pies), other Oxford University places, Italian dinner
Much thanks to Jenny for our London adventure (and Grace) and Karina for joining us in Oxford
and Dan and Mary for joining us for dinner!
At Covered Market in Oxford...
I tried Ben's Cookies (triple chocolate was just what I needed. Like a brownie and a cookie had a baby...ughhh I've been craving american things haha like a hardcore sloppy burger, legit milkshakes, plain chewy brownies, etc
And we had lunch at Pieminister hehe
They had many diff flavors like even Thai curry, Spanish, etc-inspired!
I got the classic with mashed potatoes, gravy, minty mashed peas, cheese, and toasted shallots! Yum yum--it really hits the spot when u're in cold England haha
It went by so quickly and I had a lotta fun!
And the Eurostar back was lovely and fast and offered nice views
but I only got glimpses because I was so tired haha
The weather, besides being very cold in comparison to Paris, was absolutely wonderful! It didn't rain and there was a bit of sun! How fortunate! It only drizzled a bit the early morning that I left!
I really need to edit down all my pics--THERE ARE SO MANY.
