Mawaru Penguindrum Episode 3
For my second review of this week I'll be reviewing Mawaru Penguindrum episode 3. A quick overview since I took up this tumblr blog a little late into the season. Mawaru Penguindrum is honestly pretty hard to sum up in words. It is basically about three siblings who end up with three penguins along the way.
First episode, sister dies and is brought back by a penguin hat, three penguins that do chores and understand humans acquired. Include flashy transformation sequence.
Second episode, beginning with flashy transformation sequence, have sister possessed by penguin hat tell you to go find the "penguindrum". No explanation what this is what so ever. Then of course, you go try to find it by trailing a girl the penguin possessed sister tells you to trail, and you end up trailing a stalker. ...That's about it for the summary to be frank... Honestly I can't really say WHY I'm still watching this other than I'm laughing my ass off at penguins. Anywho...
With that we start episode 3, stalker girl is shown to have lost her father apparently and her mom is uber busy with work. Her insanity had to start somewhere, thank god it does or this anime would make no sense. Cue the episode transformation with the penguin hat ordering the two brothers to obtain the "penguindrum" yet again. Brothers voice doubt that they are imaging all this absurdity. Hat proves them wrong by proving their sister would be dead without the hats intervention by killing her again. Serious shit be serious.
Thus the brothers break into the stalkers home to try and find the penguindrum. (Reverse stalkers? No, slaves.) Anyways, they find nothing, nearly get caught, penguins are useless as they get stuck to the floor and choking on plums.
Stalker girl cooks curry, goes to deliver it to the guy she stalks, finds out said guy has a girlfriend, stalker has a freakout, grabs heated curry, replaces with her own and jumps out a window with burning hot curry. (God this bitch is insane...)
Stalker girl having a mental break down. The siblings sister is walking down the path from going shopping with one of the three penguins. Penguin #3 as they have labeled it. Penguin gets in a fight with a cat, cat rolls into stalker girl along with penguin. Curry flies out of stalker girls hands and then lands on her face. Thus the sister brings the stalker home for dinner. (Go figure, pity for curry gone wild? Prolly.)
Nothing of relevance other than the stalker girl's diary seems to be predicting the future to a certain extent, which is kinda creepy.
As you can tell this review is... not magnificent, I'm honestly a little creeped out by the stalker since she is acting pretty damn insane. If not for the penguins I probably woulda dropped this show this episode. But oh well, penguin win!
Ok, names since I pretty much skipped over them.
Kanba "Kan" Takakura-the red head and oldest sibling. He got a little violated with a hand piercing him in episode one. That hasn't been explained.
Shouma "Shou" Takakura-the blue headed and middle sibling. He's pretty innocent, with anything indecent or perverted making him blush and the such. He's the moral concious that tries to restrain his brother Kanba.
Himari Takakura-the youngest sibling who died in episode one and was brought back by the penguin hat somehow. When the hat is one her the hat takes over and initiates the Survival Strategy. The hat and everything it spouts has not been explained. Gotta hand it to the hat though, knows how to make an entrance with its transformation sequence. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZdgpuBdNKg
And lastly stalker girl whose name I had to look up. Ringo Oginome-She has an obsession with a teacher that she apparently knew in the past. No reason why yet other than he kinda looks like her deceased father. She has a creepy diary that's predicting the future so far. (Future of her obsession.)
And again, one more sorry for my vagueness this review, I'm just reviewing it as openly as possible due to the distrubing content of Ringo being a lunatic so far. I might come back this and make this review more presentable.
