1. My take on their canon relationship:

I...don't think they meet? Not before she takes that bullet, anyway.

2. Do I ship them?

I do, but not really in a ride-or-die kinda way. It has the potential to be fun if done right.

3. Reasons why I do/don’t ship them:

WAR turned me on to it originally, and I guess I like the fanon dynamic? I like that neither are really showy or dramatic, and tbh I kinda like the idea that each have their own things going on but at the end of the day they can come home and just exist in the same space together without it feeling like they have to work to be around one another. When writing Coffee and Crossword Puzzles something I also enjoyed was the peeling back of layers: Éponine is prickly and Combeferre is a bit closed-off, so building them to a point where they did see they could be comfortable around one another, that Combeferre could ramble about his interests without worrying about her getting bored/annoyed and Ép could watch her stupid tv show and care for her siblings and be working a shitty min wage job and still be respected as an equal by someone she knows is respectable (who also respects her boundaries) was just...nice. And fun.

4. Headcanon, if any:

Éponine doesn't even consider seeing Ferre in a serious way until after she sees that Gav and Azelma both get on with and like him.

5. How much do I ship (%):

Um, I don't know what the scale is here. If 50% is neutral, less being "I don't" and more being "I do," maybe...65%? I like it when it's done well and Éponine isn't a helpless Mary-Sue who has been victimized by her parents and needs to be rescued, but it's not the end-all be-all for me.

#tbf I can count the number of ships I have over 50% on one hand #so in that way I would say this is remarkable #also I totally forgot I posted this ask game and promptly fucked off to do ten other things #so seeing my ask box was Terrifying for around five entire seconds #answers and shitposts #ask game #epiferre
