The 100 rewatch ep 2.7 "long into the abyss"
Hey guys! Sorry I'm a few days late! I only got to do half the ep Thursday & my weekend was crazy busy! Without further ado my messy ramble of a liveblog/ meta 😁 We open to a pretty blonde waking in a field of flowers, but this is the 100 so of course she melts from radiation. (She was the girl that gave the 47 their "tour" of MW, a thankless job apparently.) Dr Tsing is seriously so evil. & Cage is no better. He protests a little. Dr Tsing: " I call that sacrifice for the greater good" Ahhh & there it is...so self righteous. Especially when it's not her "sacrifice" & boom credits. Camp Jaha: Abby is not happy with what Jaha is saying. She doesn't want to run. She's worried about Kane. It's a mess. Lol I love how Byrne is like you aren't the chancellor buddy. Abby trying to calm the people. Bless their hearts they just fell from the sky like 3 days ago & now they're having to risk their lives just to survive again. This is when I started really hating jaha lol he's such a negative Nancy. Cut to Clarke processing the speeches & outta nowhere Bellamy grabs her arm 😊 Clarke to Bellamy: "where have you been?" Awww your wife has been worried Bell ☺️ Finn is finally feeling bad for what he's done. Cut to the dropship: Clarke being stunned by seeing reaper Lincoln. Bellamy coming up behind her & reassuring her :"it's okay! It's okay he's been restrained" awww he's so sweet & caring in this ep (from 2.5-2.9 Bellamy is at his softest with Clarke & it makes me feel things guys 😭) Octavia: "can you help him?" Clarke "I knew Mount weather controlled the reapers, I didn't know they created them." Bellamy: " if they can do this to Lincoln. What are they doing to our friends?" What a realization. That's like the ultimate evil a society can do. Experiment on people. Hold one people's well being in higher regard then another's. It's chilling that MW is so cold & calculating. Cut to MW: The 47 are tired of donating blood & being "human pincushions" I love Jaspers line :we're criminals right? So let's be criminals" lol it's one of the few moments when we get reminded these kids had it rough & we're on their own long before they came to earth. Cut to the dropship: Clarke & the Blake's are assessing Lincoln's "damage" Octavia tells her she shot him. Bellamy: "he's lost a lot of blood, Clarke" Bellamy does care a lot for Lincoln Season 3 can go jump off a cliff for what it did to the Lincoln/Bellamy friendship. *sigh* moving on Clarke approaches Lincoln cautiously, he's growling at her, attempting to bite. But she stand her ground. Clarke inspecting his neck :"needle marks" Bellamy:" you think he's being drugged?" Clarke tries to reply but is interrupted by Lincoln pulling one arm free of his restraints & he grabs her by the hair attacking her viciously. Octavia yells at him to stop & goes to grab Clarke. Bellamy jumps I. & starts wailing on Lincoln but Lincoln overpowers him Bellamy goes for the shock baton but Lincoln frees his legs! He throws Bellamy like a rag doll & tries to choke him (Bellamy must have nightmares of being choked) Clarke a'la "day trip" tries to stop Lincoln yelling "No! Stop!" As she attempts to run at him, being knock to the side like a feather. Bless her. But aggressive ass Octavia loves her brother just as much as Lincoln (try & tell me otherwise,I dare you) & she goes in with a metal pipe & will of iron & knocks lincoln out cold. Despite her major flaws, Octavia is someone you want in a fight. At this point shes still very new in her "fight training" but boy she gives her all when she believes in what or who she's protecting. Very much like her brother. I think the Blake's alone, armed only with their protective rage could take out an army. Cut to camp Jaha: Abby is instructing dad Miller to have everyone packed up. He's pissed because the man want to save his son. (I love his love for his son) Abby's like nope sorry! & me miller reminds her again of her privilege. "Abby you got your kid back. Don't make me abandon mine" ouch. Abby does tend to think a little "elite" sometimes. Cut to MW: Dr sing informs Cage that using the kids blood isn't working fast enough. & like a villain states that their bone marrow will have all of the MW people living on the ground within a month. The "sacrifice"? All 47 will die as a result of giving 8 people the ability to live above ground. Another twist on the "sacrifice the few to save the many" trope. It's so unsettling. Back to the dropship They've successfully tied Lincoln down. He spits the water that Octavia tries to give him..& she's about to crack. She says she'll go get some more. Bellamy tries to reassure her "once the drugs are out of his system he'll be okay" & she responds with "you can't protect me from this one big brother" this is one of the few times she acknowledges his care for her...& even though she says it mockingly I think you can see the appreciation for him in her face as well. Outside Octavia gets surprised by Nyko. He's trying to save her, warning her that the commander is coming to kill them all if they don't leave. She tells him about Lincoln. Back inside the dropship,Bellamy:"your mom would be proud" Clarke: "my mom would know how to save him" Octavia brings in Nyko & Bellamy goes for his gun not trusting him Octavia: "don't! He's Lincoln's friend!" So he lets Nyko close to examine Lincoln. He pulls out a "medicine" & is about to drop it into Lincoln's mouth when the ever astute Clarke: "wait!" & she literally puts her hand out & catches it, knowing its poison. Nyko pulls a knife on Her & Bellamy barks "Back off! Right now" *Sidenote* Bellamy from 2.5 all through the rest of S2 is so ridiculously supportive of Clarke guys.He's like a guard dog (I'm not saying that to be derogatory btw) but like he is literally her strength throughout the Finn fiasco. He encourages her & champions her all through this season. & honestly he gets nothing in return from her (she's not at a place to give it) but friends I think she will be in S4, when it comes to O, watch Clarke support the socks (among other things) right off of him. Season 2 Bellamy is so pure guys & Clarke knows it. She trusts him long before she tells him she does with words.** Back to the scene: Clarke tells the Blake's that Nyko is trying to kill Lincoln to put him out of his misery. Then Finn appears & Nyko (rightfully) loses his cool & starts choking him. O prevents Bellamy from shooting Nyko but Clarke intervenes with a shock baton & Nyko is down for the count. Lincoln stops breathing. Clarke gives him CPR & Nyko is in awe. Giving Clarke an idea of how to save Finn & her people. Finn says "Lincoln will never be the same" & you can tell he's referring to himself as well. I'm glad Finn is realizing the awful thing he's done. But dang! It took him way to long & it's a "too little, to late" moment for me. Cut to MW: Jasper Monty & crew sneak into Dantes office & Jasper sends Harper to watch the hall (dun,dun,dun) Back to camp Jaha: Abby & the sky people are gearing up to leave & Clarke rushes in saying wait & tells them her idea. Abby skeptical, but interested. Jaha is very adamantly NO! About it Jaha: "Abby we have an out, a way to save our people" Abby: "I'm sorry I can't give the order to leave" then Jaha says he's actually the "elected" chancellor & demands she give the evacuation order.she refuses. *sidenote*This very tense moment between them I think is Abby getting her redemption for Not fighting for Jake via proxy. She is saving her "people" this time. Jaha will not take them from her. This is also where Jaha loses what little chill he had & starts down the "super crazy Jaha" storyline. He tries to scare Byrne & Millet into submission but they are like nope! & arrest Jaha instead. He is truly angry & confused & tells Abby "you would just throw this all away?" & Abby says "I have faith in my daughter" boom. Her redemption for not having faith in Jake over Jaha has now been fulfilled by her faith in Clarke.** Cut to MW: Monty & Miller are being hacker & sleuth respectively. Jasper sees the sword in Dantes office & picks it up then we see him standing with crossed arms next to a painting of JFK in the same pose. *sidenote* I think both of these things were purposeful for Jaspers arc. He "wields the sword" (& he does use it later to threaten Dante) it fits his character journey (listen to the last ep of meta station for this Jasper journey in depth) But he has a romanticized fantasy of being "the hero" who is rewarded with the love of a pretty girl (S1=Octavia S2=Maya) & then he is juxtaposed next to JFK another "dreamer/visionary that ended in tragedy.** Monty hacked in to camera footage & Miller found maps of MW. They are on a roll. Cut to camp Jaha: Clarke meets Gustus for the first time. & here we go guys a scene that now unfortunately leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Clarke & Lxa meet (& Clarke & Indra) both Lxa & Indra are hostile bit professional & Clarke talks about Anya & makes a offer to Lxa about turning reapers back into normal men. Indra is outraged. Lxa is intrigued. Lxa tells Clarke to show her Lincoln. This is gonna go so well right? Lol Back to MW: Cage brings Dante outside to entice him/ convince him that they need the 47's bone marrow so they can take their "rightful place" on the ground. Dante of course longs for the surface. His "true home" cage tells him the ugly truth. That the 47 would all die. Dante doesn't believe that it's the right way. & says no. Cage now knows what he must do. Back to the dropship: Abby arrives to try & save Lincoln with medical assistance. Lincoln starts convulsing after you gives him an injection. & his heart stops. Clarke Lxa & crew arrive to see Lincoln just in time for Abby to pronounce him dead. Octavia begins sobbing as Bellamy looking helpless tries to comfort her. Finn & Abby look worried. Clarke & Lxa enter & see that he's died. Clarke & Bellamy look at each other & do that silent married eye communication that they do. & Bellamy slowly goes for his gun, thinking he's gonna have to kill them all & at the same moment the grounder arm themselves. It's a standoff. Then Abby being the person she is used her one last hopeful thought & uses a shock baton as a improvised defibrillator (it's a tv show guys.let them have this lol) & it works! He is revived before Lxa's s eyes & they are left speechless. Even Indra looks like she saw a miracle (which I guess for then that's what this is) Cut to MW: Monty & Miller talking about lock up, Bonding. Jasper comes with bad news. No one has seen Harper. Yikes. Cut Dr. Tsing with Harper strapped to a table. & then drilling her. Like an animal. Lovely people. Dante is looking longingly at his flower,no doubt weighing the cost of freedom. Can he be this monster for his people? Another theme this show uses a lot. Cut to camp: Lxa is impressed with Clarke & the sky people's medical knowledge. She will give them the truce they ask for on one condition: Lxa: "deliver me the one they call Finn. Our truce begins with his death" Clarke looks horrified to stunned to speak. As her face freezes & her eyes fill with tears. & boom! Smash to black! *sidenote* I would like to point out that there is almost a play by play parallel to this scene with Clarke being in shock because of threats to the boy she loves.
