In a way I wish it was Chakotay's son... it would have added an interesting dimension to the show, having to raise a son he never wanted. But we can see he was already coming to terms w it and would learn to love him...
Would have had a nice continuation of storyline, even after Seska died. A link to the beginning of the journey... and things he would have had to deal with the whole way.
Instead it broke off cleanly and it was all forgotten and shoved into the past.
