What's my favourite pastime? Sometimes when I'm bored I'll get annoyed at the fact that we have both bottles AND jars. They're the same thing, only a bottle has a neck on it where a jar doesn't. I think we should call bottles "necked jars" and end all the confusion, once and for all. I know what you're thinking: Why not call jars "neckless bottles"? Because, Mr. Merriam-Webster, think of how many people would think you said "necklace bottles" and all the additional confusion that would cause. I'm trying to REDUCE confusion in the English language here, not ADD to it!
