Gracias!!!
The presence of non-neutralizing antibodies of any dengue serotype increases the severity of subsequent infection by other dengue serotypes.
special thanks to the Rusty Quill Gaming podcast for saving my sanity while I spent over a week so sick I could barely move. and also distracting me during my IV treatment yesterday

Cases so far are up 140 percent compared to this point last year.
Article date: March 27, 2024.
Article Excerpt:
Puerto Rico has declared a public health emergency amid an ongoing outbreak of dengue infections, a mosquito-spread viral infection that can cause fever, aches, rash, vomiting, and, in about 5 percent of cases, a severe disease marked by internal bleeding and shock.
The US territory has tallied 549 cases since the start of the year, representing a 140 percent increase compared with cases tallied at this point last year, according to the territory's health department. The Associated Press reported that more than 340 of the 549 cases have been hospitalized.

Head to Mosquitos
Female mosquitos get all the attention. They’re the ones with a thirst for blood, whose bite can transmit harmful pathogens causing diseases like malaria. Here though, focus turns to the more placid males as part of a huge study into the types of cells in the insects. A worldwide team of researchers mapped out a 'cell atlas' of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, using a technique called single-nucleus RNA sequencing to look for the genes switched on in structures all over the body, like this antenna (shown here with nuclei in blue). Although the atlas yields surprising similarities between the genomes of male and female flies, genes expressed in the antenna are an example of sexual dimorphism, perhaps suggesting different ways in which males and females sense the environment. The publicly-available atlas will no doubt help other groups of researchers learn more about mosquitos and stem the spread of diseases.
