Herja is a equine-like caninoid that originates from the steppes north of the Gates mountain chain in Arabei. Ferocious and terribly opinionated, herja are known to bite first, and think later (optional).
Here <- check their Toyhouse profile out for the full species profile.
But here is a quick excerpt on the herja taming practices:
Alvecharre nomads are credited as the first group of ghalla to have successfully tamed the herja. The process is harsh and arduous, and in most tribes taming ones own herja is considered a rite of passage for both men and women. The process consists of tracking down the pack, and cornering a single herja. From that point, the ghalla and herja must engage in a violent fight, similar to the hierarchy-changing fights that happen among herja. A herja will consider itself submissive and "below" the ghalla only if the ghalla manages to take it down and beat it to the point where the herja can't fight anymore. From that point on, the herja considers itself the ghalla's second in command in their own pack. Any of the tetenka that were paired up with the tamed herja will follow it into domestication, so most young tamers are advised to only go after herja with one or two tetenka, as to not take away too many animals from the wild pack.
In the near future I'll draw a reference for the tetenka too, because these two species go hand in hand and are basically always seen together anyways!
