Makin' it my job to spread the good word about the best character ever made: Eramis, Kell of Darkness, Echo-Bearer and Founder of House Salvation

There's a whole lot of people who want more interesting, complex female characters that are messy, morally grey, not conventionally attractive or young, are queer, and have a hell of an attitude to match both their badassery and bullshittery that have somehow not yet heard of Eramis. I'm here to change that fact by suggesting her to literally any and every post that reminds me of her.

So if you enjoy a suicidally depressed lesbian alien space pirate with keen wits, a horrible temper with a mouth to match, and a deeply caring, loving heart buried under thousands of years of scar tissue, I have a suggestion for you.

trying to talk about how eramis is motherly on tumblr is difficult bc im terrified of people misinterpreting that to mean that she's naturally a soft gentle sweet soul (even though she was) when by 'motherly' i mean like this

Eramis is not motherly the way a white mom is. Eramis a Persian mom. Fierce, protective, 100% devoted to her kids, but also very much the sort to boss them around incessantly out of love

I hate to sound like one of those guys who tries to downplay the misdeeds of his blorbos bc I'm personally of the opinion that a character's misdeeds IS what makes them fun, but honest to god- what did Eramis do to warrent people calling her a war criminal again?? Because outside of raiding human settlements or Twilight Gap, her most egregious crimes were opening the Vex Portal on Europa (done against her own people) or were a result of being used by the Witness. The raiding of human settlements/participation in Twilight Gap are the only two things I can think of where she came close to actually causing the direct loss of human life, but both of those were for basal Eliksni survival, so they're pretty nothingburger imo. Everyone and their mother was raiding human camps. Every human and THEIR mother were slaughtering Eliksni en masse during the war. That's really not any worse than what the rest of her species was doing, or necessarily a war crime

Ik attempting to nuke the Traveler is what a lot of people go to with her, but I find that pretty fucking ridiculous when she a.) Literally never succeeded in actually doing it, b.) was, again, being actively watched by the Witness when that was happening, so she had no actual agency in the matter, and c.) We played a false surrender card beforehand that resulted in the slaughter of her soldiers (an actual war crime) after the events of Beyond Light, which not only have an after-campaign mission dedicated to destroying food stores (another actual war crime), but details guardians toying with young Eliksni before they kill them in Namrask's lorebook. That's two solid strikes right there, but I can't remember what Eramis did that actually warrented her being called a war criminal

oh so 8 eyed eliksni are considered lucky huh. I wonder if there are any other things or characters with a connection to aliens, the number 8, and spiders. who coincidentally might also have a connection to light based powers and resurrecting after death. vri-

fuck. just had another thought as to why eramis is probs being leaned on more for tonic shit than other old eliksni like variks or namrask (beyond eido just not liking namrask): if she had a lot of hatchlings she probably had to juggle a metric fuckload of medications, and knows a lot of the tonic ingredients just by experience. variks and namrask are, as far as we know, childless, so they never had to run through the gauntlet of allergy, cold, and prescription medications that clutter the cabinets of anyone with small mostly immune-undefended people running around their house 24/7
