Your right, its not a huge deal, but it also is. Let me explain because its not about the size of the event or the content- so sit down, grab a drink and i ask you read this whole thing before trying to "um actually" me.
While a seasonal event is small a thing compared to msq, new raids, dungeons, ect that isnt the point. The point is, people have had it with people not even waiting an hour when things drop to start spoiling things. Its not about the size of the content. Its about people just not waiting and blatantly posting shit all over social media.
The little ladies day event is just the canon that sunk the sub. People have had it. This has been such an issue since Covid and the great WoW exodus. Every time there is a story patch people start spoiling shit within minutes of the content going live. Every expansion spoilers are all over the place again within an hour. Its gotten so bad that people are rightfully crashing out over these small events because yes, while they are small and stupid- its something people look forward to after a long day.
And telling people to "get off social media" is such a stupid fucking thing to say because this may be shocking- but just because someone has a predominantly ffxiv account doesnt mean thats *all* they are here for. People want to check on art commissions, news, other games, their friends in general. Telling people to get off of social media literally doesnt help. Also yall are sympathetic to substance abuse but disregard other addictions like social media, gacha games and a lot of things and just chalk it up to "being terminally online". Social media can be an addiction.
And the people getting the most mad are people who work and people who have lives. Not everyone is lucky enough to work from home, or to use pto for patch quests and other things.
Its not about the size of the content. Its about people feeling left out because they work, have to care for kids, have to do chores, have to live and when they finally get to sit and do the thing they are excited to do- its ruined. Making them feel even worse about the fact they cant get up and join their friends right at launches.
And we arent talking about things shown in live letters. We are talking new npcs, new stories, content ect ect. So dont make this into a "but it was shown in patch notes" shut up that doesn't count. You know that, stop being an ass.
