In its original conception, the comic was going to be illustrated by hand carved stamps (I worked for a JA owned rubber stamp company through all of college and a bit beyond). I also snuck out to the "annex" (my studio in exile) this afternoon to get some pics of my favorite handmade eraser stamps, which I'd promised Melissa @littledorispress These go back to the 90s probably, before digital clip art, when the Rubberstamp Madness reigned! In fact I helped Leavenworth Jackson get her stamps online in 1994 or 95, the very first artist's (or any?) rubberstamp website! She is still there! Ljackson.com check it! The goose and the bear I'm very fond of, as much as anything because I actually drew them from my own studies. I still have this evil devil on my shoulder that tells me I don't really know how to draw. So I wonder how I managed to produce these guys? The goose is from sketches I did during visits to Barcelona in the mid 1990s (I fell in love there at the 1994 ATypI conference ❤️:-) And somehow just kept going back! Other typographic and astrological symbols from the same era... The most recent piece is the flourished M, designed and cut for my mother's 90th birthday in Dec 2017.
