I had the opportunity to visit my very good friend, Keith Zettel, who is also one of the most talented artists and craftsmen that I know. He has the most incredible studio full of absolute wonder. Many of you probably remember him from #Artfest days and all our retreats of the past. He was an integral part of making those retreats happen. When I walked into his studio, I was struck by the amazing handcrafted hammers he's been making. He pointed to a large one on his workbench and said "this one's for you." It blew me away! It is AMAZING! Keith is also an amazing journal maker. Here are a couple pics of some journals that he sometimes sells at street fairs, and also a couple of shots of his journals that I have filled up. I have been slowly working on my next #journal . It all started with me finding a #Batman tin puzzle box. I was going to cut it out and use that as the size...but I'm finishing up in my current journal, which is a similar shape, and wanted my next to be bigger. I miss #journaling in a larger #book. This one will be 7 1/4" X 10 1/2" with six signatures (I usually put 8 to 10 in my journals). So weird that this was 40 years ago. Wow! @teeshamoore and I were 18 in this photo. We scrounged up $20 between us and went to the #evergreenstatefair and had the time of our lives. On $20 we were able to ride rides, eat food, and still had enough for this photo. Last night I had thrown a piece of charcoal that had fallen out of our fireplace, onto my dogs frozen water bowl on the porch. It was one solid piece. Here is the finished black and white #journal I made for @teeshamoore . It is 6"x 8" with 8 signatures each having a mix of140# Hot Press #Fabriono watercolor paper, old ledger paper, and Canson Art papers.
