◎ Fili was always open to trying out new things. He liked different recipes, different clothing, and different weapons especially. From swords to his favorite axes and daggers, Fili had a good hand at most anything that had a fine blade.
However, as he watched his brother on the plain, who practiced archery every day before supper, Fili grew more and more fond of the art of using one. Or at least watching someone use one. He made it look so easy. So effortless to pull back an arrow and hit the tree from yards away.
Come several days later, Fili decided that he would confront his brother and beg to be taught how to use a bow and arrow. This type of weaponry was rather rare among dwarves, Fili always believed. Dwarves were prone to charging and attacking with flailing arms and harsh battle cries. They were the type of species to stir a scene equally with their barks and bites. It was the adrenaline, Balin speculated once.
"Kili," the blond urged, having approached with a stiffness to his stride and tensing of his muscles. He was nervous -- embarrassed -- both. "Your bow," he gestured with a mustered smile and indication of his hand. "I would like for you to teach me how to use one. Could you?"
