... I love Dispater and his third wife, Erecura, so much.
Yes, they’re named after the roman depictions of Hades and Persephone. But Dispater has been used as a name for the Lord of the 2nd Layer of Hell since DnD 1e.
Paizo said, ‘Hey, let’s get him a wife.’ Okay, they gave him three wives. He married his first wife before the fall and lost her during it, he can’t remember her name, face, or fate, and it absolutely fucks him over.
ANYWAY. After his divorce from Feronia, who saw it more as a fling, a moral woman comes under his employment.
(This is where I’d show a picture you this bombastic moral, if Paizo actually had one.)
Meet Erecura. Instead of having an overbearing mother, Erecura is a priestess of Pharasma. Erecura ups and steals the secret of immortality from Pharasma and grants it to herself with the intention of sharing it to more morals, to make things fairer. Pharasma kicks Erecura down to Hell as a punishment before Erecura can do that and what happens?
This woman who has ovaries of steel uses her prophetic talents to survive in Hell and gain the attention of several courts - even Asmodeus who fucking hates women in Pathfinder is all ‘ok, she’s cool’. She is hired by the court of Dis and eventually begins a casual affair with Dispater who is taken by her intelligence and grace under fire. She’s able to arrange a home for herself to decompress from hell’s bullshit for six months out of the year in her own palace, and then lives with her husband to help him out. And they genuinely love each other.
What’s more? Erecura is Lawful Neutral. She stole immortality because she thought it unjust the gods had it. She has several good aligned rangers who worship her because she endures in such a horrible place. She will not grant evil people powers.
You can be a Lawful Good Paladin to a power of Hell without using Feat Bullshittery.
And that’s why Erecura is amazing. The end.
