   “ Do you even have to ask? ” He couldn’t help but flash her that classic Solo grin as he answered. She knew exactly he wouldn’t turn such an offer down even if he technically had other things to do and other responsibilities but he could claim his enthusiasm was due to her status, that even a Jedi could not DARE to deny the queen mother her wishes so when she asked him to accompany him he had no choice but to agree. Not that he would ever dream of rejecting any offer she made him but no one else had to know about such details. His love was hers and hers alone. It pained him sometimes, having to HIDE it like this, not being able to shout it from the rooftops, to declare his love for her to the whole galaxy but he had known what he agreed to when she had invited him into her bed. It didn’t mean he liked it though.

    “ Though I wonder — what will all your noble lackeys think when they see a Jedi at your side? ” His grin never vanished from his face. As much as the reaction of Tenel Ka’s people was a genuine concern he couldn’t help but feel some kind of malicious glee at the thought of the offence they would take at his appearance at the divine queen mother’s side. He did not often have a chance to brag with the fact she had chosen HIM over all her other suitors. Did they know why she continued to play games with them? Why she rejected them all in the end? If they had done their job right about keeping their relationship a secret they shouldn’t know ... but he couldn’t help but wish these men at least SUSPECTED something and that it filled them with envy over the ‘ simple Jedi ’ who had stolen their beloved queen’s heart. They would never understand her anyway, would never fully grasp that it was her who had stolen his heart years ago on Yavin 4, that he had loved her long before she had accepted the glory and the BURDEN of the crown, before he had even known about her heritage at all. No one would ever know her like he did. It was a blessing and a curse. For both of them.

Jacen hesitated outside Tenel Ka’s room at Reef Fortress, not having seen a chance to have this conversation until now.  Biting his lip he took a breath to settle his nerves and then lifted a hand to knock.  When the door opened brown eyes found gray before he spoke.

“Why didn’t you say anything?”

Send a 👫and I’ll write four headcanons I have about our muse’s relationship

1) So, okay, she’s not proud of it, but Jaina was definitely super jealous of Tenel Ka at first when Jacen really latched on to her. She’d never had to share her twin before and she wasn’t sure she wanted Tenel Ka anywhere near him for fear of losing their closeness in favor of Tenel Ka. It took her a little while to get comfortable with how much Jacen liked the other girl but eventually she chilled out.

2) Jaina honestly doesn’t think she could function the way Tenel Ka does, in almost any regard, but especially with her choice to forgo the prostetic for her arm. There are very few people in the world who would make that choice witht he technology available to them and she finds it both kind of badass and kind of terrifying that TK’s answer to losing a limb was “well it was my bad anyways so I’ll just live without it now.”

3) Which leads me to the fact that honestly??? Tenel Ka kind of intimidates her sometimes. Like, she’s 100% sure that if TK thought there was sufficient reason to, the woman could and would come for her blood and maybe even win. It’s a weird mixture of mad respect and a little bit of awe.

4) Oftentimes Jaina doesn’t know how to have a normal relationship with TK after what happened with Jacen. She tries to visit as much as she can bear, particularly for Allana’s sake, and wants to be a firend and be supportive, but she doens’t know how to talk about what happened, especially not to someone so forthright as Tenel Ka. They are suffering with a very similar loss and Jaina doesn’t really know if that makes htings better or worse and she’s afraid she’ll put her foot in it if she says too much. But that doesn’t change that she cares a lot about the other woman and would show up just about any time she was asked to it TK needed her.

It had taken years to get to this point, years that showed very clearly on the young woman now standing in an achingly familiar bedroom.  Her hair was no longer a rich auburn done up in braids, hard living and frequent cosmetic use had changed it to a rather frazzled blonde while her hazel eyes were hard and cold.  A small scar followed the line of her cheekbone under her right eye and more laced across her hands and arms from the last five or so years of getting into one scrap or another.  But despite her rough and tumble appearance she’d managed to sneak her way into the depths of the Fountain Palace on Hapes, until she finally reached the Queen Mother’s private chambers.

Her memories of those early years of her life were a little hazy, with time and trauma between now and then, but it was enough to make her heart twist her her chest as she took in the way the room seemed to not have changed a bit.  The same blankets on the bed where she’d cuddle into her mother’s side for stories about daring young jedi.  The vanity where she would watch her mother do her hair and beg to be taught how to braid her own so deftly.  But that twist just sparked the anger that had been simmering inside her for years, rage jumping to engulf the grief and hardening her gaze further.  Glancing around she decided the best place to lay in wait was right out in the open.  No one would dare enter the Queen Mother’s bedroom without permission and she expected that the first to come through that door would be Tenel Ka herself.  Then, they would talk.  So she stood in the center of the room, waiting and burying her eagerness under a veneer of cool distance.  This meeting meant a lot to her, but she couldn’t let that show.  Emotions other than her rage and determination had been a weakness in her time alone, and she’d learned to bury them deep in response.

miscellaneous angst starters. - accepting

 “I don’t know what the other options are.” Jaina’s tone was matter of fact, almost deliberately cool as if the distance between herself and the topic would make it more bearable. “Everything I have to face I have to deal with mostly on my own. THat’s apparently what it means to be part of this family.” From broken relationships and the loss of loved ones to having to fight a war against people she loved, there was no one else to take that on with her. She would do it herself on her own and suffer the consequences herself, as it had to be. Jacen wasn’t there to save her anymore.
