Ereri Canonverse Week Day 2: Parapraxis
I really wanted to write something for Ereri canonverse week hosted by @ererievents
Also, this is for @riv-ren / @renriva whose birthday was exactly a week ago. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, SWEET BUN!! <333
“I don’t get it!” Eren, riled up and furious, rose from his seat in front of Levi’s desk, almost sending the chair backwards with how the back of his knees hit it.
He just got informed that Levi wouldn’t be the one to take care of and supervise him from now on.
“Why? I don’t get it. Please explain it to me, Captain Levi.” When they were together, practicing or preparing for a mission, Eren wasn’t always forced to call Levi by his status. And now it felt like Eren took substantial steps backwards.
“The decision, which you don’t have the right to object, was made. And it’s irreversible. You’re not under my supervision anymore. Accept it. There’s other stuff, more important things, to worry about at the moment. Our mission to finally visit your home town is impending.”
Eren shook his head, shivering, his skin buzzing. At Levi’s final crushing words from minutes ago, there had been a ghostly dagger that pierced through his chest, past his heart.
So many incidents had happened between him and Levi, so that Eren couldn’t quietly acquiesce in a choice as grave as the one at hand. It would mean a grand change for him. He thought that he had been doing fine while Levi was teaching and observing him.
He must have been wrong the whole time. Eren had been a failure, a burden, too taxing and slow in growing as a soldier for Levi’s taste.
“Levi,” Eren’s words trembled out of his lips, throat tightening, “whatever I did, I’m sorry. I’m sorry for anything that might have pissed you off. I never intended to gross you out as my supervisor!”
Levi stood up now too, three fingers of each hand resting on the wooden table. “Eren. There’s no use for this discussion. Instead of questioning what I said to you just now, you should leave and concentrate on your task. This mission is loaded with risks and hopes of mankind. Don’t dwell on unnecessities and move your ass out of my office.”
“Levi, what did I do?! Why that decision all of a sudden? Right before a mission?! I want answers!” Eren knew that he was digging his own grave by raising his voice deliriously against Levi.
“You won’t get any answers! And now do your job!”
“Tell me why!”
“No!”
“What did I do wrong?!”
“Eren, go!”
“Tell me why!”
A minute moment. A spark of a second where Levi had gripped his head with desperate frustration and his imploding mind had done a job that was cladded as a mistake.
“Because I fell in love with you! I’m not a neutral judge anymore!”
Silence.
Defeaning tranquility. Levi sensed his heart pumping in his ears. How much he wished that his rushing blood would kill him right there and then.
“What?” Eren breathed hoarsely.
“No…” Levi’s gracile fingers grazed his lips, then dug into them. Trying to forbid and perish his flaw that had already been exposed.
Just like the decision, his confession has become as irrevocable.
Meanwhile, Eren got attacked by all sorts of emotions at the same time. A pool of truth and uncertainty sloshed by his feet.
Levi, though shocked by himself, ordered sternly, “Leave.”
“Levi, please.” They couldn’t stop here. Eren couldn’t receive a confession first, only to go on and act as if nothing had occured. He was on the edge, holding onto the last threads.
“Get out!” Levi had spat both words out, so maliciously, and he had dragged them with his voice enough to finish when his hands had dragged Eren outside of his office. He practically threw him out.
Eren, defenseless against Levi’s physical strength, was gripping Levi’s sleeve, his face begging.
Levi, please. You can’t just leave me hanging like that!
As soon as Levi slammed the door shut, Eren threw himself against it, a fist knocking on it once, a hard bump. Sliding down the door, mentally going down a hill of unrequited wishes, Eren muttered under his breath,
“Because I am feeling the same.”

A day late for the first day of the @ererievents ‘s canonverse week, but better late than never.
Day 1: Growing close | Pining
Reader’s note: There's a beauty in listening to stories instead of having to read them yourself. It's easy on the eyes after a long day in front of the computer screen. You can listen to them on your way to work and back home again, during household chores, or when you're about to go to sleep, with your eyes tired from the day. There's also something to the spoken word, as opposed to its visible version, that the visible image of their letters cannot provide. And there is a pleasure in indulging in podfics that carries the memory of being read to as a child: Clutching your cuddly toy, wrapped into thick soft blankets while you listen, begging for "only one more chapter, please…"
@ittybittyteapot , I'm so proud you allowed me to record this story. I know it means a great deal to you, and it's also one of those that made me believe in canonverse stories in this fandom. It's also one of those stories that made me reach out to another author and, after months of being awkward, rewarded me with a friend. I hope recording and sharing this tale gives some joy back to you.
Author’s summary: After the war, Eren has moved outside the walls. Levi receives a letter from him every Thursday, and though he longs to be with him, he still can't bring himself to pick up where they left off on that painful night before he left.

Chapter Summary: Eren's new life in the logging camp with Levi begins.
After Wall Maria was breached, the survivors had been told that their existence was a burden on the citizens of Wall Rose. They would have to work hard to provide for the extra mouths they were adding. Less than a month after the disastrous joke of a campaign to take back Wall Maria they had been sent to the wastelands to till the land. They were weeks away from any settlements and treated as less than human. They weren’t even allowed to join the military.
It burned, for Eren to know that he would never get to join the Survey Corps and fulfill the promise he made to kill every last Titan. But he wasn’t going to give up without a fight. After five years of farming things were about to change.
