he sighed, running a hand down his face. “ they’re people, “ he spoke looking between sol and link. “ they move with the dead. keep your voice low enough, the walkers just think you’re another walker “ @saintivcry​

      the truth was , eric didn’t know what to expect next . when they arrived , there was no telling what was going to happen but then sol disappeared with copper and eric was being lead elsewhere . the room wasn’t exactly the best . their house back home was better but eric wasn’t going to bother an offer a complaint . he sat on the floor , closest to the door , watching both boomi and kevin whom eric refused to be separated from . they both had fallen asleep at some point and while eric probably should have followed suit , he didn’t think sleep was going to come too easy .

      it wasn’t difficult to understand who was who in this world . they walked with the dead , they became the dead . it was easy to slip in an out . it was easy to have eyes everywhere . they saw who moved around , the unlucky few who moved through their land . they saw groups come and go but the saviors , in a lot of ways , seemed to take the cake . they were a large group . they seemed to go where they wanted , took what they wanted , did what they wanted and it was something that was beginning to get underneath eric’s skin . 

but they waited . there wasn’t a point in a confrontation if the leader wasn’t around and eric wasn’t interested in talking to someone that was simply a second in command . the day finally came though and eric didn’t see the point in prolonging this longer than need be . surrounding the group didn’t seem to be difficult but unlike the typical dead most were used to , they didn’t come much closer , managing to keep some distance . eric had hung back , their features covered with the face of walker opting to let beta do at least some of the talking .

‘  you’re  where  you  don’t  belong , ‘ beta spoke , not moving from his spot . eric knew he could have come forward , could have chimed in but he was waiting , wanting to see what the response would be first .

eric  was  used  to  sleepless  nights  and  he  knew  from  the  moment  that  they  decided  to  take  this  place  over  versus  going  back  to  the  place  they  called  their  sanctuary ,  that  eric  wasn’t  going  to  get  a  good  night’s  sleep .  boomi ,  however ,  could  sleep  through  any  situation  and  that  was  exactly  what  the  boy  was  doing .  eric ,  on  the  other  hand ,  was  getting  acquainted  with  what  would  be  their  new  home .  he  only  looked  up  when  he  heard  the  door  being  pushed  open ,  “  we’re  not  knocking ? “  eric  taunted .

"  yeah ,  man ,  i  don’t  really  know  what  you  want .  i’m  just  sitting  here . “  eric  knew  what  they  did  to  these  people  .  he  knew  they  killed  some  of  their  people  and  took  their  homes  but  if  eric  was  being  honest  with  himself ,  he  didn’t  really  care .  this  is  the  way  the  world  was  and  he  wasn’t  going  to  apologize  for  it . @saintivcry​

beta  watched  as  jake  and  boomi  interacted  from  across  the  way,  he’d  never  imagined  that  he’d  have  a  kid  of  his  own,  let  alone  one  that  boomi  would  ever  meet.  he’d  raised  that  kid  for  the   first  couple  of  years,  granted  with  eric,  but  he’d  loved  him  like  he  was  his  own,  and  he  mourned  boomi  just  like  he  mourned  eric  at  one  point.  part  of  him  loved  the  fact  that  they  were  interacting  now,  part  of  him  was  concerned  that  being  involved  with  them  would  only  be  bad  for  jake,  but  he  wouldn’t  object  to  some  semblance  of  peace,  especially  if  it  kept  jake  safe. he  rubbed  the  back  of  his  neck  and  blew  out  a  sigh,  they  seemed  to  be  getting  along  just  fine,  but  it  was  doing  little  to  calm  his  stress.  he  only  wished  copper  was  around  to  lean  on  in  moments  like  this.  when  he  turned,  his  eyes  swept  the  surrounding  area,  finding  eric  across  the  way  who  seemed  to  be  watching  the  boys  too. he  grimaced  when  their  gaze  met,  but  said  nothing.  @wntrflln​

eric  was  a  little  surprised  to  see  boomi  and  jake  together . he  almost  thought  his  kid  would  be  stubborn  enough  to  rather  kick  and  scream  and  throw  a  tantrum  than  make  friends  but  it  seemed  as  if  boomi  wasn’t  being  as  stubborn  as  he  could  be  and  he  actually  looked  to  be  enjoying  himself  but  it  didn’t  settle  any  worries  that  eric  had .  he  looked  away  from  the  two ,  his  gaze  meeting  with  beta’s  and  he  found  himself  sighing  deciding  to  be  the  one  to  walk  over  but  not  getting  too  close .  “  i  don’t  think  we’re  going  to  be  able  to  avoid  each  other  for  long . “ @saintivcry​

    it  wasn’t  difficult  getting  inside .  some  of  the  others  distracted  those  on  look  out  with  walkers  and  some  of  them  were  able  to  get  into  the  community  in  a  different  way .  there  was  only  one  real  goal  here  which  was  to  find  boomi  along  with  kill  anyone  that  got  in  their  way .  eric  wasn’t  going  to  let  this  one  go  and  he  wasn’t  leaving  here  without  his  son  right  by  his  side .  

there  wasn’t  a  lot  of  commotion  inside  the  community .  those  who  were   on  look  out   duty  had  this  handle  or  so  they  thought  and  with  how  quiet  it  was ,  eric  could  only  assume  that  most  had  retired  for  the  night .  he  quietly  slipped  into  a  room ,  pulling  off  his  mask  as  he  stepped  forward ,  unclipping  his  knife  from  his  side  to  instead  press  it  against  an  old  man’s  throat .  ‘  where  is  he   ?  ‘  eric  asked ,  pressing  the  knife  a  little  harder . ‘  the  boy , ‘  he  spoke ,  knowing  that  would  probably  be  the  first  question  asked .

    as  exhausted  as  eric  may  have  been , he  knew  he  wasn’t  going  to  truly  settle  until  sol  made  it  back .  he  wasn’t  exactly  worried .  some  of  the men  stayed  back  at  the  rv  while  eric  made  sure  the  rest  got  done  what  was  needed  before  eventually  retiring .  eric  had  tried  to  at  least  somewhat  relax  in  the  home  that  was  chosen  for  them  but  even  then  he  seemed  to  be  on  edge  until  sol  finally  came  into  view .  he  brushed  a  hand  down  his  own  face  before  dropping it .  ‘  everything  good ?  ‘  @saintivcry​
