I am obsessed with this movie but, the ending of "V for Vendetta" always murders me dead.
When it is just Evey and Inspector Finch in the subway and he catches her. After a year he finally caught her. And more than that, V is dead behind her and all his questions could be answered. But he let her pull that lever anyway.
He doesn't even need convincing.
He lowers his gun like he's finally exhaling.
V needed Evey.
But he also needed Finch.
It still drives me wild how the Wachowski's version of V for Vendetta had Evey Hammond and Eric Finch end up together as seen in Eric's vision.
Alan Moore concluded his famous series V is for Vendetta with issue 10# (cover date May, 1989). The series would later on inspire a movie of the same title. ("Vultures", V is for Vendetta 10#, Comic, Event)
One day, quite by surprise, Harry received a letter from his father’s cousin, David West. One of the most underrated parts of "V for Vendetta" will forever be Inspector Eric Finch's character. And I hate to say it but his arc and perspective throughout the whole movie only gets more relevant and relatable as this gongshow of a timeline continues tbh.

An hour ago he would have said she exhausted him. That she had too much drive and fire in the back of her eyes. And maybe she still did exhaust him. Maybe just for this moment it would work, then fizzle. She would walk in one direction, and he would linger, before going off in another. But right now all that didn't matter. Because the world was enormous and she was trying to get her teeth in his throat.
Mary set Lillian up in Robert’s old room, which had not been changed since he was a boy. It wasn’t long before, with Mary’s help, Lillian gave birth to twins- a boy and a girl who she named Eric and Daphne. Though she was thankful for all the generosity and assistance of her grandmother, Lillian looked at her babies uncomfortably, and began to worry that motherhood was not for her. Perhaps she would need even more of Mary’s help.

One of the most interesting parts of “V for Vendetta” for me is how easily Finch recognized Evey in the subway - “you're Evey Hammond, aren’t you?” The expression that flashes across her face is so interesting because no one has recognized her all this time. Until him. He sees her. Despite her shorn head. Despite how V changed her. Finch still sees her.
