Are people really trying to make the Padres the ‘Bad Guys’ in regards to the whole situation with Eric Hosmer and trading him?

If you’d bothered to get your facts straight before typing up a whole post, then you’d realize it was completely optional for him to go to the Nationals. We also would have still paid his salary and given him the $39 million he was owed to go there. He had the option of being a part of the package for both Soto and Bell and he said no, mainly because they were on his ‘no trade’ list.

Ultimately, everything worked out in the end, as Hosmer went to the Red Sox, Voit went to Washington, and most importantly —the Padres got their man. They got Soto.

People are acting like the Padres were holding poor little Ewic Howsmer hostage, albeit he was a hostage with a multimillion dollar severance package. He also had the choice of teams he wanted to go to, and I don’t remember the last time a ‘hostage’ was given that much autonomy.

I mean, I get that you’re a fan of his former team where he won a Golden Glove and the World Series, but at least try to be objective.

He was great for you but he was absolutely horrible for us. The Padres lost a few games due to his unwillingness to change his playing style and to do something as simple as stretch out to catch a baseball.

And now he’ll get the chance to be horrible or great again in Boston, alongside his former fellow hit-or-miss teammate, Tommy Pham.

And P.S: Hosmer is anti-vaxx and his wife works for a right-wing, agitprop news channel that specializes in spreading disinformation. If someone is selfish enough to think his sperm count matters more than protecting the people around him from getting a communicable virus that can potentially debilitate them, then I’m not sure that’s someone I'd want on my team.

I also don’t think that this is a hill worth dying on either.
