Eric N. Mack works within an expanded field of painting, particularly through his innovative use of textiles—a material that offers an alternative to the canvas and carries close association with the body, everyday function, and fashion. He also integrates unconventional art materials like moving blankets, ladders, and wire, which calls the forth the labor and utility of art alongside its aesthetic value. Lemme walk across the room brings together a number of examples of Mack’s practice—from textile assemblage to “mood board” collage. Spanning the gallery’s length and width is a site-specific painting that encourages visitors’ response and relation.
