[After their death, Eric and Art become closer and eventually began to start a romantic relationship. But one day, Art overheard Eric's story about his past, which reminded him of his own bad memories, especially in love.
Art had previously been in a relationship (not with John) that he deeply loved and almost married. However, Art heard from a coworker about his lover, who said never considered him a partner, lover, but rather just a stranger. This made Art afraid that Eric's feelings for him were just lies and that he was deceiving him. Even though Eric truly in love with Art after he died, Eric can't lie about his feeling, he really love him. Even though Eric was a headless ghost, actually Eric could regrow his head, but he kept it hidden so he could always be with Art.
Because of the bad love story about Eric, Art slowly distanced himself from Eric, refusing to show himself to Eric. This made Eric sink back into despair. He cried all the time in the factory, so that all the ghosts in the building could hear Eric's cry. While Art avoid Eric, Art was at the last place where John, Amanda, Lynn, and Jeff died. He spent time comforting himself with them. But his feelings couldn't lie. Sometimes Art would secretly peek at Eric, who continued to cry over Art all the time at the place where they died. Even though Rigg was with Eric, it didn't stop the man from grieving.
Until one day, Eric realized Art had been watching him from behind the door. Having a heart-to-heart talk with him, Eric confessed his entire past. But in the present, Eric was honest about his love for Art.]
