Ice Cream, Eric White

I've been looking at Philip Guston a lot recently and have become especially sensitive to my color palette and how I apply paint to the canvas. There's a fresh, un-fussiness to Philips smaller works that I love and wanted to emulate. A mysterious structure on the water at Lake Austin caught my eye and lead to some simple colorful abstractions like this one. The overall impression of this piece makes me think of ice cream or sweets – perhaps vaguely reminiscent of Wayne Thiebaud?
