At a party at Dick and Jacky's house not too long ago, Erik had subtly asked Dick for a bigger house, a nicer plot of land. Something more like Max and Paul have, you know? Dick shut him down, rubbed his lack of life partner or heir in his face, and Erik took it in stride.
But if this is his punishment for daring to dream of more glamorous circumstances, he's certainly not accepting it submissively.
Erik slams his cereal bowl into the sink and grips the edge of the counter. He breathes.
