This year was my first time attending the open mic night at AAS, and I was blown away by the talent of my fellow astronomers and physicists. Towards the end of the night, Erin Maier got on stage to recite a poem she had written a couple years ago and she had me at “Milky Way.” Before the meeting was out, I asked her if there was anyway she could send me the text of the poem because that’s how much I loved it. She did one better and sent me not only her words, but this artwork done by her friend (aka @beyondbrightness) that her words inspired.
