we each have our own demons to fight
“You think that going on an adventure means going out of your door and leaving your home behind to cross foreign borders. This is one way to do it ... But do you think that you’re the only one who’s been on an adventure? The only one who doesn’t know what has become of him? I have changed. You have changed me."
--Thorin in "My Fair Hobbit," Ch 18: Without You, by Erinye

Colored some of the panels from the storyboard I really liked, they’re out of context so it might be a bit confusing.
Fic Rec
This fic deserves so, so much praise and it is criminally low on views so I wanted to share it for those of you that might want to check it out. We Shall Be Monsters (13/13, 69032 words) by Erinye Haunted by the loss of his loved ones and the decline of his family’s fortune, Doctor Thorin Eijkenskialdi conducts unspeakable experiments in the last remaining property of the once formidable Durins’ estate. Rumour has it that he has grown obsessed with the idea of conquering Death, and that he is fostering some great evil behind the high walls of his castle - something he should be afraid of in the first place. Enters one Bilbo Baggins - is it redemption or damnation? Frankenstein!AU, featuring unhealthy obsessions, a trip too many to the graveyard, gothic romance, and a reasonable amount of screaming. Not everyone’s cup of tea, please be warned before reading. Do indeed heed the tags. But if your interest is piqued, I recommend reading it and enjoying this twisted, beautiful tale. It is a remarkable and fascinating take on The Hobbit and Frankenstein both, blended together into perfection. It’s eerie, it’s dark, it’ll make you gasp and the end will keep you on the edge of your seat. Each and every character has a rich backstory and they are unbelievably complicated - Thorin and Bilbo especially, for obvious reasons. They’ll break your heart and they won’t necessarily mend it either. But this immersive world @erinyewrites has created is worth every second of awe and pain. Enjoy.
