Johnny caught himself on his wings, reorienting himself as he took in his surroundings. He was back in the city, it seemed, for real this time... He wasn’t going to trust Driko worth a lickkidy-shit, not after she watched him get killed with a stupid smirk on her face. And the next he saw Ang, he swore, she was the one who was going to take a trip to hell.
But first, he was going to find the Boss. He didn’t give a shit if it hadn’t been a week yet, he was going to see the Boss if it was the last thing he did.
Soaring on an updraft high above the city, Johnny closed his eyes and decided to put this angelic shit to good use. Through his closed eyes, he saw a bright array of colorful lights down below, each individual blip being the soul of a Bossville civilian. Some would switch areas suddenly, sometimes in a whole group, and others would just plain disappear.
Rifts were highlighted as bright purple tears in the world, shining brightly against a backdrop of black, and possible future rifts being slight lines... Heck, a few rifts were other colors, but only one rift was a solid grey: The same rift he was thrown through in the first place.
The tugging that pulled him towards home was present as he concentrated on the grey tear, but the rift wasn’t what he was after. Slowly, the other lights faded out, and a mere five lights remained in the black. Two were grouped together in one area, and the other three were grouped together in another. The two far off were a cyan soul- which crackled like electricity- and a dark blue soul with a white core, the core fading in and out like a heartbeat. In the group of three, two of which were dimly there-- An orange flame and silver wisp, each lying dormant-- and the third was like a grayish-purple stone with malicious yellow cracks forming on it, damn near close to congregating at the center...
Johnny angled in that direction. It had to be the Boss.
Talon was just leaving the hospital after visiting Shaundi and Pierce. Still walking with a slight limp, he began walking in the opposite direction of home. He’d sleep on a rooftop somewhere. He wasn’t ready to face Matt again.
Some fucker bumped into his weaker side, causing him to stumble and painfully catch himself with his right leg...
The demon growled in anger and spun to face the person, doubling back and stalking towards them with his teeth bared.
He was going to chew them out, he swore he was. But that was when he’d noticed the angelic being descending from the sky, and his heart stopped.
People continued to flow around the three men; The angel, who looked up at Talon with a sense of awkward relief and sorrow; The man that bumped into Talon, who’d done nothing else wrong but had noticed the demon stalking towards him and decided to get a bad attitude himself, shouting obscenities; And Talon himself, who seemed to be seeing everything happening in slow motion as his heart sped back up beyond the normal rate.
A searing heat spread throughout his chest and began to spread to the rest of him. His stomach tied itself in knots. His senses began picking up every single bit of sound from miles around him as he went on high alert at the sight of an angelic Johnny begin to approach him.
The man next to him kept trying to get in his face about having a problem with bumping into each other.
Engines and voices of people all over the city buzzed loudly in his ears.
The child in the apartment across the street was crying about stepping on a caterpillar.
Seven cars blared their horns.
Eleven car alarms were going off.
Construction site equipment was sounding bells and alarms.
Fifty people’s phones played their obnoxious ringtones at their maximum volume.
The marching of the ants felt like someone was taking a hammer to his eardrums.
Everything about the cacophony of a city’s sounds overwhelmed him as he stared at the approaching Johnny...
Who had yet to take his second step forward.
He felt a pull towards his rift. Like a string that directly connected to his spine, a pull he’d long forgotten due to its absence had returned. Energy pulsed off in the distance as the rift’s readings got frantic, becoming erratic.
Reconnected to his home, the fire in his chest exploded.
In a flash, Talon was on top of the man that ran into him, the man having been killed by the time Talon was on him.
His blood was still in the air as Talon snapped a nearby pedestrian’s neck and threw the body at high speeds at the approaching Gat. The senseless death and violence had yet to be noticed by pedestrians, but Gat was already reacting.
Talon’s eyes glowed a bright yellow, completely missing any hint or form of pupils as he let out a grating, agonized, screaming roar, all traces of humanity thrown to the side. The blast of demonic sound terrorized the surrounding people, striking their very cores at a primal instinct to protect their souls, and everything dissolved into chaos as they screamed and ran, if not fainting outright.
Johnny was taken aback at the sudden burst of his Boss’s soul. It pulsed like a supernova and glowed as bright as the sun as the grey and purple shattered off of it.
All that was there was rage.
He only got it in his head to dodge when Talon was suddenly in front of him, mashing his fist into Johnny’s jaw and sending him careening into a building. The demon wasn’t even in his other form as another scream of pure rage left him, his own voice mixed in as a beam of pure energy shot out to where Johnny was. As soon as it touched the building, the collision point exploded and toppled the structure.
Gat had gotten out of the way in time, but was left staring down his Boss- who was the most livid he’d ever seen him- as the demon already started attacking whoever or whatever got too close in his path to get to Johnny, blowing them away with sudden pillars of rock jutting out of the ground or simply striking them with lances of a black energy.

Talon’s wings were out and ablaze. He got close, lunging at Gat, and they both grappled in the air.
Despite how worn, scrawny, and damaged the Boss was, Johnny was overpowered by the sudden burst of strength and sent straight towards the ground. His eyes went wide as Talon dove straight towards him, but he managed to roll out of the crater in time for the Boss to slam down into it.
He didn’t expect the explosion of fire to spread out from it.
Johnny fanned his burned wings and realized that this section of the city was going up in flames as the temperature was raised to unbearably hot levels; The center of which came from the demon himself as waves of heat were visibly seen warping the air around him.
Johnny got back to his feet quickly and ducked behind cover as Talon searched the area for Johnny, eyes glowing brightly. He wasn’t going to give Johnny a chance to speak.
A seething bellow of rage left the fuming demon again, shaking the ground as it shifted, lava spewing from the earth. First would be Gat. Then, he’d go through that FUCKING RIFT and KILL those TRAITORS and his FATHER.
