survival show reccomendations
dkfhskdhsk hi. ok i mean . assuming youre talking abt the kpop and adjacent bs im watching... crucially they are All just torment nexus forever (said w love. the suffering is kinda fun for me) and also it's A LOT of "wow why is any of this happening" or alternatively "omg yay mediocrity and someone consistently being just okay instead of literally terrible!!!!" so rly i cant in good conscience recommend you to watch or get invested in these fuckass things. ok anyway. that being said. ok fuck i just realised how much i rambled. SORRY.
- for like peak survival show vibes (like classic format of big ass cast and "fan voting") and 2010s girl group realness it's kinda just produce 101 (the IOI one) and 48 (the iz*one one). also for pd48 it's kinda fun to see the lsrfm members in the show LMFAO and i also i do just kinda like pd48 UNFORTUNATELY. (ok there are 2 bg versions of produce 101- the wannaone and x1 ones- but i have not and also will not watch that). ok also idol school (fromis9) should absolutely go in this category too and also i kinda love fromis BUT its actually a horror story (like even for a survival show it's so. erm. someone had to break a window to escape.) also most of these are like. so rigged lmfao.
- there are also like. post-produce ones so like girls planet (kep1er) and boys planet (zb1). the voting systems for bp were a lot less fucked than the gp ones so the results feel less unfair lol but everything that happened in gp was funny as fuck to me. fu yaning helicopter moment you are so iconic to me. genuinely gp was so funny idk. but boys planet was a more like. idk. satisfying ending i guess. and also there was whatever the fuck was happening between zhanghao and hanbin esp in the finale. so. if youre into that
- my teenage girl (class:y) and universe ticket (unis) are both deeply annoying and nothing else rly. actually no i kinda liked seeing soyeon as a judge on my teenage girl but THATS THE ONLY REDEEMING FACTOR
- ok and there's also the kinda different format ones where usually there's less people and Sometimes it's more decided by judges instead of fans so like. dream academy type vibes yk. sixteen (THE TWICE ONE‼️‼️) is kinda fun. tbh. and also its rly funny seeing chaeyeon chaeryeong and somi there. its also deeply annoying bc jyp is annoying as fuck lol but. erm. i-land (enha) is kinda just horrors. that im unfortunately extremely entertained by. and tbh many of the i-land performances were kinda good ESP FOR A SURVIVAL SHOW. um. i do feel kinda bad though like they rly did go through it. fwict i-land 2 (izna) is maybe less awful but i havent rly watched it so i cant say. but also i found out they had someone that was on sdgf on it so that's kinda cool. idk. r u next (illit) is kinda entertaining but extremely ragebait. and also the rivalz stuff at the start was kinda fun.
- a2k is also rly annoying.
- i also had a phase w the chinese ones and the youth with you ones are lowkey funny but so many of the contestants are rly hard to watch lmfao. the produce camps (ppl also just call them chuang sometimes) are cool SOMETIMES bc some of the ppl they get on there are rly talented and actually have like. idk. unique skills unlike in most of the kpop ones lol. but the actual shows arent all that.
- my fav ones are not actually even kpop ones. it's street woman fighter which is w professional dancers basically. s1 is all korean crews and s2 is mostly korean crews so a lot of them are rly involved in kpop choreo lmfao. or some of them are famous backup dancers. BUT swf2 also had tsubakill and jam republic (jr had some original royal family members it was rly cool idk). s3 was fully international and was also rly cool icl. all 3 seasons were v different vibes but i Did like all of them. but also i do just like watching dance ❤️ (there's also sdgf which is the same thing but for. children ??? i think. but the format's shit and idrc abt the 14 year olds sorry. there's also 2 seasons of street man fighter but all the men are annoying as fuck and just could not get through 10 minutes so.)
