In Defense of Home, final Journal Entry

The Last day of Spring

Year 1641

Journal,

I have spent the past three months recovering since our battle.

Izzy's death has left a deep vacancy in my heart,  but one that I've chosen to turn into a strength rather than a weakness. Her death was not in vain. It is much the opposite. Since the battle, which we've come to calling the 'Battle of the Countryside', this town has been booming. Ossabelle has been leading a rebuilding effort in the districts and areas that were damaged during the conflict, and has started to construct some small walls to protect against future threats. She's been named the town planner.

Teramos became a fast ally of the place after his impressive feats during the battle, and though at first most of the townsfolk was scared of him, he's certainly come into his own here. Most people adhere to him as though he was the law in the area, and he's a fair and just sherrif. A great deal of the banditry within the camp converted to following him as a leader, and are acting as constables- Under close supervision, of course.

Chuck mourned Izzy's death deeply, although he didn't show it through regular emotions. Nathool has been working there, I hear.

Izzy has cousins moving to her cottage from their old farm at the beginning of summer. I've decided to depart a few days prior, to give the small home a break from hosting anyone before it's new permanent residents arrive. For the most part, I've been recovering since my battle with Zylin. Though I won the fight, he certainly did a number on me- If not for Banesorrow's rapid healing, I am certain I would have died there.

I don't believe what I saw while I was unconscious was a dream. The way she referenced my mother, and someone named 'Him'... I cannot help but ponder if 'Him' is the same person I saw in my dreams. The man in the armor, who seemed to control the sands of time themselves. It would be a strange incident, but this entire adventure has been completely bizarre already.

We're going to go to Highperch, the City of Heroes. Whatever Banesorrow's church requires,  I have no doubt it's of grave import. Meanwhile, I intend to visit the college there. Perhaps I'll even enroll. Not that I have near the money or prestige for it, of course. No, I feel I'll go even beyond there- Perhaps into the war-torn lands even farther north, to seek my fortune. There is word of Drifters being needed greatly in The Center. Who knows? My fortune may be there!

I laugh at the idea, of course. That place is savage- Meant for men and women far tougher than I. Maybe one of the outlying islands, though, I could handle.

Whatever the case may be, it pains me to leave my friends here. But I will not travel alone- Banesorrow will be with me, and I'll carry the warm wishes of everyone here with me as I go. Though I doubt they will ever read these pages: Thank you, everyone.

Welcome to the official Gerhn Tumblr. This is where the multiple content creators that work on the fantasy world of Gerhn will be posting creations.  You can expect to see writing and art here. Sometimes, maybe, music. What Gerhn is: Gerhn is a high magic, fantasy world created by several authors. I go by ‘Ermet’ and will let other authors introduce themselves with their own posts. Gerhn was created when, dissatisfied with published worlds and wanting a way to link all our campaigns together and have a set tone, everyone at my tabletop gaming group decided to craft a world for us all to collaborate on. The Atlas is available through a link in the description, though incomplete at the moment. I would highly suggest thumbing through it before attempting to tackle any content that gets posted here, as it includes a timeline and description of many of the races. Aethir to Ermet "...What do I have to do to impress you?"

“What?” Ermet blinked, cigarette hanging half out of his mouth. “Kid, you don’t wanna impress me. At least, I can’t think of any reason you would.” He exhales, removing the cigarette from his lips, exhaling a small cloud of smoke. “I’m a washed up has-been adventurer. Don’t focus on impressing me- Focus on bettering yourself. But if still insist you want to make me think you’re some hot shot or something, I’ll tell y’ the same thing I told my kids.”He shrugs, flicking the remains of the cigarette away. “I don’t care what you do, as long as you tried at it, and gave it your all. If you show me you put effort into whatever it is, I’ll be impressed. I’m a pretty low pressure guy.”@aethir-thoughts
