Maybe through Chicago, or something like that. . But [people] have more of a respect for music over here in Europe than they do at home, I think. Yes, indeed —especially jazz. It’s cultural, I guess, to you people. [In the United States], it’s taken for granted—and the only thing is money. If it don’t sell, it’s no good." . I think garage sale season is officially over. This was today’s only find, albeit a great one—one of the best-selling Jazz LPs of all-time. It’s dusty and has something smeared across one track, but I suspect a spin through the ol’ VPI record cleaner will bring it back to life.

Erroll Garner – Long Ago And Far Away
Long Ago and Far Away is a classic jazz album by the legendary pianist Erroll Garner. Originally recorded between 1950 and 1951, these sessions marked his first recordings for Columbia Records and are celebrated for his sophisticated, self-taught swing style.
The AlMusic review by Stephen Cook awarded the album 4 stars and stated:”These sides from 1950-51 were the first Garner recorded for Columbia, and like the later Body And Soul reissue from the same label, this disc includes a sophisticated and highly enjoyable program of classic standards. … A great disc for newcomers and fans alike - nicely remastered, too.”
