Hey, do you think momtaku felt any pain as she was falling from heaven? Also, do you think she fell on her ass, face or back?
Well, I’m pretty sure that during her fall mom was caught in Erwin’s strong arms, resulting in her eternal love for the commander^^
Has any of the characters in SNK made you blush? When did you realize you were in love with Erwin and/or Levi?
The characters that make me blush most are Levi, Ymir and Jean because their methods of showing affection are so stinkin’ adorable. I loved them from the beginning, so there isn’t a moment that stands out to me. But I wasn’t fond of Erwin until chapter 51. The moment where he smiles at his stump and says it isn’t enough was the moment he began transformation from the stoic, badass Commandar into my favorite character and one who I love most 💖
Not to say Mike and Erwin aren't close but knowing someone for a long time doesn't equal actually knowing them as a person
(Did you mean Mike or Levi? I guess this answer applies to both of them.)
I agree that there’s a difference between factually knowing someone and personally knowing someone. Truly knowing someone typically requires deep and honest communication, which I suspect there wasn’t a lot of. Erwin not knowing himself would make it impossible for him to completely open up verbally with another person. It wasn’t until chapter 81 that Erwin could be truly honest with Levi. The reason being that Erwin had only become aware of his motives a few months prior during the carriage ride with Zackly.
But still I think there is good reason to believe that Levi, Mike, and Hange knew Erwin. During their years together they saw the sort of person he was. They could make decision about him based on his actions and not words. They had time to learn his character. If Erwin was not a good man, if he was someone not worth following, it would’ve quickly become apparent to any of them.
Erwin’s action earned their trust and devotion. The circumstances of Erwin’s life and any mistakes he made didn’t change that. At the end of his life, Erwin proved that their trust was not misplaced when he gave up his dreams for humanity. Erwin proved to himself and others that he was the honorable man they all knew him to be.
Hi mom ! Since it haven't been long since I started to follow you on tumblr, I was wondering who's your favorite character in the manga and why do you like that character specifically? I'm sure some people might have already asked you this question before, but still, I'd like to know.
(Katyichigo, you’re right. It has been asked so allow me to copy and paste my answer from an older ask on this topic...)
Erwin Smith wasn’t always my favorite character. For the first 50 chapters that honor went to Hange Zoe. But when Erwin escaped the jaws of a titan and continued on to rescue Eren from the Armored Titan, I started paying attention.
It wasn’t his total badassery that got me–it was his humility afterwards. Erwin didn’t think his act was extraordinary. What was one arm when others had given so much?
I think his humility is further reflected in the people he surrounded himself with. A thug from the underground, a mad scientist, and freak with a nose is how outsiders would view Levi, Hange and Mike. Yet Erwin made those people his most trusted comrades. He elevated them to positions of power regardless of how outsiders would view it. He simply didn’t judge people. When a fifteen year old boy with bright ideas ended up in his military, he sat the kid down and listened to his ideas. He made others listen to him as well
I’m going to mention one more thing I love about Erwin. There are a lot of people in this story with tragic pasts. Erwin Smith is no exception. As a boy, his father was killed for getting close to the truth. Worse, Erwin’s own actions served as the catalyst. What’s remarkable about Erwin though, what makes him different from say Grisha, Zeke and Eren, is that didn’t become blind with rage. He wasn’t filled with a need for vengeance. He never became bitter or resentful.
Erwin Smith never lost his faith in humanity. He never stopped believing in those around him. I think this was most obvious at the end of his life. Despite his profound disappointment in knowing he wouldn’t live to achieve his dream, he was able to sincerely smile and say thank you.
And for all those reasons and many more (like... I didn’t even mention his perfect nose, build or cheekbones - not that I’m fooling anyone with that omission), he is my favorite character in Attack on Titan.
Not a real question but I saw the ask of an anon's mom saying she likes Erwin, and thought about the one time I showed my mom a photo of Erwin and she's like "oh that's handsome" you don't know how happy I was lol
In an interview with Brutus Magazine, Isayama said that he knew Levi would be popular among the yaoi fangirls. I have to wonder if he knew Erwin would appeal to the mom demographic?
Whether he did or not, the Attack on Titan Junior High mangaka absolutely understood. This panel from chapter 17 felt like such call out 😂
Oh so levi and erwin kinda did have feelings for each other
getting the official font was a mistake.
