Ahhhhh, I finally found a Simon following the prologue of episode 1. Awesome blog!

It's funny because it was actually a preview of things to come but things ended up so differently in the show. Fandom took it and ran. Well, the Japanese fandom, mostly. Canon liked what the fandom was doing and adopted him into canon with their own version. It's all really interesting.
