Eurovision 1995
At the time of writing, it is my Spring Break, and I figured is give you a couple rankings to kill some of the time that I have.
So, I picked up where I left off: 1995. That was the year Norway cut the streak Ireland had going of consecutive Eurovision wins. And rightfully so. Secret Garden sent "Nocturne," the Eurovision Song with the lowest lyric word count and breathtaking instrumentals.
Needless to say, I agreed with the winner. I first heard that song in full during the ESC250 and got chills all over. If you haven't heard it yet, please fix that!
I believe the first Version of Nocturne did not contain any words at all, but in order to compete at their National Selection and then Eurovision, they had to add some words to have some vocals. They were not told how many Words should be in a Song so they Just added 24 :)
This sounds very reasonable 😁
In Nocturne, 1995’s winner for Norway, during the 3 minute performance, less than 44 seconds were actually sung during the performance. Are there any rules regarding actual singing time? I doubt such a song would win today.
I should check...
I don't know but I honestly doubt that a song with no lyrics at all would be allowed to compete. Rules on the numbers of sung seconds? Don't know either.
