A week ago someone asked me about Eurovision 1998 and going through those songs and faces I found out about Vili Resnik, so... It’s time for some GILF magic: Serhat was damn tired of being left alone to represent the category ahahah 

Technically, they were born in 1963 and 1964, so they’re not that old... Let’s say borderline between DILF and GILF!

escagain: 1998 Was a balllad year, wasn't it? My top 5 would be: 5. The Netherlands (Queen Edsilia) 4. Uk 3. Portugal 2. Germany (what a legend) 1. Israel (legendary Queen). The voting surely Was so exciting and tight! And we should also stan our host Ulrika, especially for the action with „A long time ago, was it? And there were 3 hot or handsome guys, the ones from Norway and Slovenia and ofc KOIT ❤️ Any thoughts from you? And do you know why Italy withdrew and never came back until 2011?

That’s true, so many ballads :)   It’s hard for me to judge because these tunes surely worked in those years but listened to today they all sound so... 90s.  My favs?  The Netherlands and Cyprus!

And yes, Norway’s Lard Fredriksen was a real cutie, like twinky Koit and probably the most handsome -you forgot- Michalis Hatzigiannis for Cyprus! Slovenia’s Vili Resnik was already playing for the DILF team!

It’s such a hard pass! He reminds me of a dreadful, disgusting Italian web trash personality, Rosario Muniz (only some Italian fellows will get this ahah)

Eurovision 1998

Eurovision 1998 is next on our journey down through the years. 1998 was also marked as one of the last ears to use the pre-qualification show before using the relegation method before semi-finals were introduced. I will likely be repeating this point a bit throughout the 1990s, but this was because of the influx of countries entering the contest with the dissolutions of both Yugoslavia and the USSR.

Israel would win the contest with "Diva" by Dana International, becoming the first transgender participant to win the contest. *please see my statement on the participations of both Israel and Azerbaijan, I will do my best to find it and pin it*

This contest also brought the United Kingdom's entry "Where Are You?" by Imaani, which I ranked as a favorite (also I swear Gustaph from Belgium 2023 did a cover of this which is amazing. Highly recommend listening to both).

Over all, I kinda liked this year because as a ballad girlie, there were plenty of ballads to keep me happy!
