uguhghhhh Palia fanfiction go brrr.....,

Vellichor must endure another one of his weekly meetings with Eshe. Like most things, it appears his interactions with the head of the mining guild have not gone unnoticed by the magistrate.

Just a single-page blurb. I had the idea in my head and wanted to get it out quick. I just liked the idea of Eshe having a secret soft spot for Najuma.

Not stated, but Vellichor is my Palia player character. Because I'm a huge geek, he's a Time Lord that got stranded on Palia and his TARDIS did not survive the encounter. Because I'm a ho for some crossover.

Can you tell I'm not much of a writer?

“I am…surprised and pleased to see you are adapting as well as could be hoped at this stage. I can’t help but notice that you seem to be getting on rather well with the Pavels as of late.”

Her statement felt more like a question as Eshe looked up at me from the papers in her hands. I felt a surge of anxiety in my chest as I replied.

“Ah - Yes, I, uh, I have been. Hodari has been very helpful since the events that landed me here. I’m not sure I would have gotten this far if not for him.”

“I’m inclined to agree,” she mused. At some point, though I’m not sure exactly when, Eshe had stopped looking at me, and started sifting through some more of my paperwork, as if looking for something specific.

“And the girl?”

“Oh, Najuma? Absolutely - like two peas in a pod! She’s easy to talk to once you get to know her. We’re both tinker types, so it made for a nice ice-breaker. In fact, we recently got to chatting about how to make a more efficient–”

Eshe did not look impressed. I trailed off and shut my mouth to allow her to question me further.

“Regarding the requirement of a mentorship - Have you asked anyone in town to be your Shepp at this time?”

“N-no, I haven’t yet. Oh - but, I’ve got someone in mind. I should–” my voice betrayed me as it cracked, and I paused to clear my throat. “My apologies… I should have an answer by morning.”

In the low light, it almost looked like Eshe had let a small smirk reveal itself on her lips - whatever she was looking for, she had found it, and not in her stack of documents.

“Something tells me I know who. Well, as long as you’re finally working on it…”

She neatly stacked the papers before her, set them aside, and rested her arms on the desk with her hands clasped together as she met my gaze again.

“Everything seems to be accounted for, then. You may go. Kindly let me know as soon as you’ve received a response from Mr. Pavel.”

Swallowing my embarrassment, I nodded and rose to excuse myself.

“Oh, and Vellichor?”

I turned on my heels to face her again. To my shock, she was smiling. Proper, fond smiling - without the devious, bureaucratic aura I had grown so accustomed to.

“Say hello to little Najuma for me, would you?”
