In this AU, there are various versions of bat ponies: Fruit bats, Vampire Bats, Magically Formed Descendants

Astral is a Vampire bat which means his diet consists of meats: fish, rabbits/rodents, various birds, non-sapient Deer/Elk, pig - while some will shift over Tofu for health reasons

His family owns a renowned farm that grows both edible food and alchemical ingredients and sells them no matter the nature of the seller (until the Lunar Forge/Smokey Mountain) is put under Luna’s control

The biggest known buyer is Sun Sovereign Celestia

Bat eyes are sensitive to daylight so they wear pink/red/yellow lenses to protect their eyes

They can walk up and down walls and upside down on ceilings

Due to his job as a farmer, he’s got a strong build

Because his family lives at the very top of the mountain, they’ve adapted to become very fluffy and grow feathers upward on their necks to protect them from the chill

Due to exposure to magical alchemy ingredients, he showcases the magical wavy hair that powerful magicians use

The Smokey Mountain exports Mithril and Platinum which results in many of the residents having the mineral in their homes or on their body

When thinking about Smokey Mountain, think of Lonely Mountain and the dwarves

Smokey Mountain is inhibited by dragons, diamond dogs and bat ponies - all finding a place together and growing a mixed community

The mountain itself is shaped around the skeleton of a massive dragon who had fallen in the Dragon War. His heart is what powers the entire forge itself and fire rubies grow off any exposed bones

Derpy/Doctor lore - Minor redesigns to Bubble’s wings have since been made since making this art

Doctor Smith Whooves

The Doctor studies in Theoretical Physics and (Theoretical) Arcane

He’s highly sensitive to magic and loved experimenting with magic, alchemy, and building. One of his biggest experiments at a young age was trying to capture the Wind and Clouds create an air balloon without fire

At 8, he caught the eye of Celestia, Sovereign of the Sun and was sponsored to become a student under her- moving all the way from Stalland (Scotland) with his parents to Canterlot to learn

He eventually graduated as a Star Pupil and perused further education for a PHD

Eventually around 38, he works as a Professor in the Iota Gem University (full time) - living in Canterlot during work and living in Ponyville during breaks

The Doctor is a semi-normal pony (no 13+ life regenerations or semi-immortality)

Golden scars litter his body from his multi self-experiments such as turning himself into Pegasus or unicorn

He marries Bubbles and becomes a stepfather to Mercury Stampwing JR.

Bubbles “Ditzy Doo” Stampwing

Lunar Forge AU Ditzy is a bit more competent and put together but still messy, wanting to prove that she can still be useful despite her disabilities

Her family lineage and others of her kind/breed is a near extinct Passenger Pigeon, most families having been slaughtered in war time between the races

Due to their insane homing instincts, her breed work mostly as elite Mailponys for express mail between high ranking members of society such as leaders, generals, and nobles

In her youth, she used to be the fastest flier in her her filly class before a hard crash turned her life for the worse

As she got older however and began to recover and adapt, she learned how to use her disability of being unable to fly straight by instead flying backwards and mastering a skill most Pegasi can not

Bubbles is a single mother, refusing to talk much on the father but she is in contact with them + secret child support pay

After her condition began to stabilise and to avoid other controversies , her family sent her away to live in Ponyville - leaving with more than just her belongings.

She moved to Ponyville at 25 once her condition stabilized and birthed a son just 5 months later. She messaged only her parents and the father.

Her Pegasus child, Mercury, is 6yrs old- making Derpy 31 at the time before S1E16 Sonic Rainboom

Starlight clearly has a type… and its capes

(Mr. Beast cadence) If you look closer at the image presented before you- you may notice I left some clues behind that may hint to some trans polyamorous ponies /sarcasm

Lulamoon Trixie

The one presented is Trixie after her redemption. Due to the Alicorn amulet , her horn had bent , cracked, and twisted in strange ways as well as burn at the tip. It was stretched out while under the influence of the Amulet

Her magic has leftover remnants from the dark magic with small hints of purple and green.

While some powerful/magically inclined ponies often manifest having wavy hair (see sunburst’s hooves) , Trixie’s hair isn’t. She simply curls and stiffens her hair that way to give off the illusion of it waving around

She’s very loud and proud of her trans identity

Even though she’s in a closed poly, she is rather hesitant due to her own parent’s history. She has not sought out her father

She’s just a mare with ADHD. don’t arrest her court

Trixie definitely wears metal horse shoes since shes always on the move

Florian Sunburst

Sunburst is another dropout out of Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns but it wasn’t just lack of confidence that caused him to drop out. His sister’s reputation was heavy on his shoulders as well as managing to dig up some information about his sister that caused him to leave

After fleeing to and residing within the Crystal Empire for some time, he began to display symptoms of crystallization (not the infection AU) where his horn seemed to change to a gemstone like appearance

Either his horn itself will just glow or a flame will show up. I was thinking about a deer/elk for him like a Druid

Due to Sunburst being a powerful mage, his coat reflects as such in a fiery manner

I’m still a very big fan of the headcanon that RD walks away from the first sonic rainbow in a weakened state. Her foal body simply couldn’t handle it. Instead of landing safely - she flew wildly around after she was temporarily blinded by the rainbow and had to be be stopped by a several layers of clouds

Her left ear tore in half from the sheer speed and parts of body was drained of color- left with an almost silvery pattern

Tho she wears clear medical aids (her goggles and compression) she’s quite quiet publically regarding her pains and meds and doesn’t want Scootaloo to her during her medical episodes

That’s until she overhears about Scoots plight regarding her own disability and finally vocally embraces herself and becomes a loud advocate for disability rep

+ Headcanons

The reason why Morgause was taken away in this universe was because she was born a unicorn.

Morgana is still considered a seer in this world. After her evil arc, due to her lack of horn, she used a magical branch as well as the Alicorn amulet to empower herself. The amulet and the dark magic has led to visible corruption on her body - the same goes for Morgause and the dark magic warping her horn and leaving dark marks

Nimueh is a deer , her antlers growing and splintering higher and higher towards the gods

Not sure if Freya lives or dies in this world but if she did, she’s getting shipped with Merlin despite how much I ship Merthur. These two were so cute together

Guinevere’s cutiemark represents peace with the palm leaf and lily of the valley (pulled from when a five star island grows)

As you can see, all the women evil/beastly women have small fangs. Freya with the slit eyes

For people wondering why Arthur had a “unicorn” tail, if you know his origin of birth then yes. Because he’s conceived through magical means, he has a bit of magic in him. Perhaps in a slight redesign, I’d make his shirt a little longer to cover that spot of his tail since Uther would be ashamed of it
