it's been much harder these past couple of months to properly go out, let alone dig in the crates, but when an opportunity strikes, especially with something like this sporadic event, i seize the moment. it has been a hot minute since i've dug through records and gotten my fingers dirty in the long process, but, personally, this is why i love digging: to discover things that have been forgotten in the accumulation process. so, i got the call from lowel about his crew member/homie @eskae selling his records/work paraphernalia. cool thing about this is that i had just met eskae christmas day evening while he spinning at lobby bar and then days later to be invited to his abode to pilfer through his grand collection. what you see on the ground, was not even half of his collection, plus those were his giveaway selection. one's contained in boxes and in his house were for sale, and not bad prices either. albeit there were some records he couldn't depart, while we were sifting through, which made sense because 1. with a big collection, you may have forgotten that copy had even existed in your collection, and 2. a sense of nostalgia/attachment you have towards that record. to sum it up, we were doing the hard work for him (haha), but that's the fun of it because of finding gems you've been seeking for sometime. so, for my dig, i got a good grip for myself and it will eventually be posted up, tagged #eskaecollection. as the night slowly came to a close, i was able to have brief convo with the man, asking him when he started collecting (around 95ish) and jus personal questions about the state of hip hop and dj'ing culture. i will say, on my behalf, that i enjoyed this once in a lifetime experience because he gave away what we didn't take on the floor to jelly's. big s/o to @lowski_noc for informing me & also big s/o again towards @eskae for letting me & friends dig through his collection and having us at his home. 📹: @lowski_noc 🏠: @eskae #nocturnalsoundkrew #nsk #dj #tableist #records #vinyl
