Intricate Drawing Machine Patterns by Eske Rex
A while back I was admiring some amazing creations made witha Drawing Machine by a Copenhagen-based artist and designer Eske Rex. Intricate one of a kind drawings are made with a machine, which on its own is a piece of art: a monumental sculpture investigating time and movement. The artist also created a Grinder, based on the same principle as the Drawing Machine, it cuts and drills into the wood, metal or glass surfaces. In this way a detailed piece of art can be transferred into a tree dimensional space.
In this video you can see the drawing machine in progress, how it moves to create an image:
I love the computer-like details achieved with the machine, yet still keeping the unpredictable patterns of nature. So many lines are layered to create these unique artworks. Artworks that are somewhere in-between digital and hand made.
