My Adventures in Tokyo!
Welp.
I figure I should probably do a little bit of a write up of my time in Japan so far!
So.
Friday: We arrived! And we went out for what was the best meal of my life, I swear. Seriously, it was the most amazing Japanese food of all time... And I also got Ace Attorney Investigations 2, which was absolutely legit the most awesome thing. Seriously, I am so happy with that.
Saturday: Vera (my friend, who's on exchange in Japan) arrived! It was also my first ady in Akihabara, which meant that I wasted about 100 bucks within a few hours. I bought a Hatoful Boyfriend book, a MMD magazine and an Avengers comic, as well as a Madoka Magica figurine and some capsule toys. It was awesome. :D
Sunday: Harajuku, Shinjuku and Shibuya! At the start of the day we went to Yoyogi park, and saw the Meiji shrine. It was really amazing... And so bloody big! There was a Japanese wedding on there, so we watched a bit of that... And then I bought some presents for friends, and we wandered on to the shopping district! We shopped for 13 hours straight, and saw the most beautiful, amazing, wonderful (expensive) clothes! Laforet Harajuku and Shibuya 109 are the two best department stores EVER, and I love them so muchhhh.... But I didn't actually buy anything at any of those stores!
Monday: We did SO MUCH on Monday! So first off, Basil (my dad) wasn't feeling too well, so he went back to bed for a few hours, and Vera and I headed off to Ueno park to go to Ueno Zoo! Since it wa the first of October, it was free to get into the zoo, which was BRILLIANT. So, we saw pandas and polar bears and giraffes and yeah we pretty much did the whole zoo. It kicked ass. :D So then we made a mad dash for the train, 'cause we had ten minutes till we were meant to meet Basil, and we made it perfectly... So we took the train to Asakusa and wandered around a little until we found the Onsen (Japanese bathhouse) that we were going to. It was a bit dingy, and pretty old, but it was great! Seriously, the water was sooo nice... And yes, it was traditional Japanese style bathing! So, nude, and all together. Split by genders, though. Some places aren't. After that, it was about... 6PM, and we didn't have anything pressing to do, so we wandered around for a while. We found an amazing store with second hand yukata, and Basil bought one for himself and one for Emily (my sister). I was gonna get one, but the only ones I liked were super expensive... Then, after that we went out for sushi train, which was amazingly delicious, and super cheap! And the day STILL wasn't over! W were literally on our way back to the train station, and we came across a karaoke place. It had Vocaloid songs. And T ARA and Exile and I just sgahk It was really fun. And then we got icecream and crawled back to our hostel.
Tuesday: Vera's last day with us. We didn't do a huge amount, really. We got up, checked out of our old hostel, walked about 500 metres down the road to our new one and dumped our stuff. Then we grabbed Vera's bags and went back to Ueno Park, to visit the Tokyo Metropolitan and the Museum of Western Art. The Metropolitan wasn't too good, but the Museum of Western Art was awesome! Picasso and Rodin and Soutine and Monet and Tiepolo and just everything was so cool. And then we took Vera to the station, dropped her off for the Shinkansen and headed back to our hostel. And then slept all afternoon.
Wednesday: Today! Today kicked ass, seriously. So we started off by crossing off something I've wanted to do since I was 10, and we went to the Pokemon Center. It was so freaking awesome, you have no idea. Seriously, I love that place. And they actually play the Pokemon Center music! Which was cool. SO I got presents for Bianca and Torie there, and a little thingy for myself from a vnding machine. Then we took the train out to Ikebukuro, which was awesome for about twelve different reasons, and most of them involve Durarara!! But we wandered around a little more, 'cause I wanted to find a makeup shop I'd looked up online, and apparently they sold red mascara! afetr a little bit of wandering, we asked an attendant in a different makeup store. She got out her computer, Googled it, then led us down the road, into a department store, talked to the information desk for a few minutes, then led us all the way to the little stall in this huge makeup-perfume-hall-thing and left us there. And THEY ACTUALLY HAD RED MASCARA!!! So I wasted about 50 bucks on that, but at least I have some now!! After that, we walked to Tokyu Hands (Ikebukuro branch), and went up to the eighth floor, 'cause they have a freaking CAT PETTING ZOO up there! Like, it's this huge thing and you can stay there as long as you like and it's only about 800 yen to enter, and there's all these cats! And you can pet them! And there's cats! So that was fun. Then we played Project Diva Arcade, and I was totally shit at it, as was to be expected. And there were a whole bunch of Japanese guys playing it on Extreme and kicking ass and it was really cool. THEN we got lunch, and then we went to Shibuya. Now, there's a bookstore in Shibuya called Mandarake, and if you want doujinshi, Mandarake is the place to go. Unfortunately, I had no money left. BUT I had a father with me, and he paid the 5000 yen worth of doujins that I wanted! I scored two USUK, one NiChu, one Shizaya and one SwitzBelg! Unfortunately, we couldn't get any R18 stuff, 'cause of the age issues and Australian Law. Even if the characters ARE over 18, it's still really risky with that kinda stuff. My dad was totally cool with me wanting R18 stuff though, which was nice! And then we met up with his friend and then got some food and came back to the hostel!
Tomorrow we're going to the Ghibli Museum, which is GREAT, and out for some amazing French food, and then Friday is packing and relaxing, and then Saturday we leave and Sunday we get home!!
So that's what I've been doing!
What about you lot?
