Gabriel stared at the pile of papers waiting for him to read and grade. When he agreed to be the settlements school teacher he hadn’t realized how much work it would entail. The most unexpected thing was he really enjoyed it. Seeing the kids faces light up when they learned something new. He had led a team of guards to raid the old school and library for books and materials they could use for the school they had set in the community center. It wasn’t very big, more like a one room school where he taught a variety of classes to various age groups.
“Dad.” Blaze’s voice cut into his thoughts. “Can we go over to Sora’s to play?”
Smiling at him he nodded, “just be home for lunch.”
“Alright,” he turned to go then reversed his steps to throw his arms around his dad, hugging him tight.
Esme giggled as she pushed past her brother to hug Gabriel as well. “Thanks Daddy,” she pulled him down to plant sticky kisses on his cheek.
