How do you live like this?
Stone, upon reading Pendelton’s mind
[alarm blaring]
Dean Blaine: Intruder alert!
Professor Stone: I can’t hear you! The intruder alert is too loud!
Look, you didn’t ask me for my opinion, but I’m old, so I’m giving it anyway
Esme
Blaine: How do you usually meet people?
Esme: I'm retired.
Blaine: From meeting people?
Esme: I know enough people already.
Esme: Sonya, what are you doing?
Sonya: A boundary has been crossed, Esme. I’ve been violated. Nothing is sacred anymore.
Esme: Yeah? Tell me.
Sonya: Someone stole my cupcake.
Thank you @wannabecatwriter for the lovely Esme Stone. She was a pleasure to have in game. She had by far the most romantic date with Adam and if her overall scores would have been higher she just might have won. Her downfall I think was all the wishes to be turned into a vampire instead of wishes for Adam. I played that up a bit I’m afraid. Again thank you!
Day Three
The next morning they sat eating breakfast in stony silence. Each avoiding eye contact with the other. Adam was the first one to break. "I'm going to check out the sphinx today."
"Can I come" she asked contritely.
"If you want" he shrugged.
They arrived at the sphinx each unwilling to be the first to speak. Adam set about finding an entrance inside. He could feel her eyes following him. She'd turn each time he looked in her direction. He felt somewhat bad for how he handled things the night before yet he didn't feel the need to apologize either.
Esme watched him silently observing his methodical way he went about discovering the hidden entrance. He was meticulous in the way he solved the puzzled and riddles he faced as they entered. They didn't have enough time to explore all the sphinx had to offer. It was more an activity they could do together while still not talking to each other.
"I don't understand what the big deal is" she got up following him "if you loved me than you'd do it. I want you to do it. Afterwards you can go back to your vegetarian ways."
Silently Adam took his sleeping bag from inside the tent and laid it out in front of the campfire. He didn't even try to explain himself again. What would be the point? She had refused to listen to him and this would be no different. Her words haunted him. He had loved Beverly and would have turned her if she had asked him to. He would have done anything to keep her by his side forever. It had been her decision not to be turned. He had respected that decision. The least Esme could do was respect his decision.
