oh im sure he knows what "canon" means but he knows that if he said "yes great" he might get into trouble and if he said "nah sorry i dont think its gonna happen" he will break loads of hearts in that hall, some girls would probably cry and it would all backfire on him so he makes a joke that doesn't safisfy everyone but he doesn't have consequences from either side, fans or the cw.
