as a poc in fandom its rlly weird bc ill forget how white fandom spaces are until i see a meet up or smth and im like . wait am i the only asian here

#this does not apply to all fandoms #but all the fandoms ive been in in the past have been predominantly white people #especially It #it feels like elementary school FHFKJFFJ #i was the only asian kid in my class for the majority of my time in school #it didnt like. fuck me up or anything and enjoyed everything they did as well regardless of lack of racial rep #but its always like. I hate walking the line between "standing my ground because this is something I need/something I was told I could access and suddenly I can't" and "you are not the actual person responsible for my inability to access it and I bear you no ill will as a human, I just want to be able to properly plan my committee meeting and I need an accurate assessment of my resources to do so" and constantly feeling like an ass and a pushover all in one.

#dealing with university bureaucracy is a nightmare #especially IT #because the guy on the other end of the chat is powerless #but also #when I say 2-3 professors NEED to be able to skype into a meeting #I'm not trying to weasel anything out of you #or like get super special favors #just literally what the university website says is available to students
