1, 4, & 18 for the ask meme?
I reblogged this without considering that I wouldn’t even have time to answer right away, so it’s been a few days... Anyway, my answers:
1) favourite place in my country has got to be the seaside - which, sadly is right at the opposite end of the country from where I’m living, so I rarely get to go there.
4) Most of my favourite dishes are not specific to my country but to my home region of Swabia. My absolute favourite of these would be Kässpätzle, aka handmade traditional pasta baked in the oven with cheese and then covered with sautéed onions. (And no, it’s not the same as Mac and Cheese, although it is similar.)
18) I have a slight accent, I’d say, but since we only spoke a light dialect at home and I spent almost ten years living in other regions, it has all but disappeared. I tend to adapt to however people around me talk, so it varies - with people from my home region, my accent gets broader or I slip into the dialect entirely, with other people, I speak a mostly standardised German, where it’s only parts of my pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar that are a little different. Okay, this is getting long - I’m just fascinated by accents because they can vary greatly throughout the country, and some of them are even closer to other languages than to German, like the Northwestern “Platt”, which is closer to Dutch and which I literally couldn’t understand if I tried to.
The questions are from this ask, which I think is a fun way to learn somethng about some cultures and countries other than the US on here.
